Excellent Dr, but unfortunately there is no respect for a patients time. To sit in his waiting rooms 4 - 5 hours is a norm!! Totally unacceptable! If you dare ask how long you still have to wait, the claws come out!

His receptionist/wife is rude and disrespectful. She treats patients and
hospital staff asif they are brainless. Ive been through this twice, and spoke to a few patients while waiting, who shared the same experiences.
Despite him being an excellent doctor, I wont be back.

He is one of the best, but please never think he will help if you end up by him as a result of injurie on duty as he will let you pay for every thing (consultations, tests, MRI's ect) out of your pocket and once all is done you will sit at his office until late night just to be informed at the end of it all by his receptionist/wife that she will not have any of your documentation completed as to assist with any of the organisations whether it be Rand Mutual, Workman's compensation or Coida. This practis is only there to make money and feel nothing for an indevidual. Yes once more he is good but not the type of person that will care about the patients before money, which is actually very sad as he is highly recommended and trusted by his peers.

He is one of the best doctors! But the service is really bad. Always waiting more than 3 to 4hrs, they are never on time with anything!! Stop letting people that came in last go first!
Please fix this problem!!! I'm sure there is another system you can work from.

Dr Pieter Slabbert is the best neuro surgeon in South Africa. I've had a brain tumour on my pituitary gland which he removed successfully which no other Dr could help me or even diagnose correctly. Through cushings disease I gained 44kg in 18 months. After the tumour was removed I lost 33kg in 12 months. He saved my life numerous times and I'm forever gratefull. I'm in his care for the last 3 years (2021-2023) and can testify that he cares and Helen is the best support for him and us as the patients. He performed multiple brain surgeries on me. He performed a bilateral craniotomy to recover me from a csf leak. He diagnosed me with severe intracranial hypertention and he performed another operation for a VP shunt. I was hospitilized multiple times and in icu also multiple times. I can testify that Dr Slabbert is the best and he cares. I was misdiagnosed several times by other neuro surgeons across South Africa but Dr Slabbert had the knowledge and experience in complex brain surgery that is phenomenal!!! If it wasn't for him I would not have been here today. I thank the Lord for using Dr Slabbert in such a miraculous way. May the Lord bless you and keep you Dr Slabbert, may the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you! Those with negative complaints if your life depends on it you will wait in the waiting room it does not matter for how long , you will wait... trust me if this is the only surgeon which is able to remove a brain tumour in a delicate area which no other neuro surgeon can or want to take the risk you will wait. Because Dr Slabbert is not only willing to perform delicate brain, neck and back surgeries with great success he is also confident in the outcome. For him your life and your quality of life matters! It is a good doctor, excellent at his job but the service is very bad, you wait more than 3 to 4hrs because the doctor is late or they book new people before you or they keep on reminding you that you can be happy you got an appointment. The staff can't communicate properly and are very rude(especially reception)when you ask them something, they treat you like you aren't important and they talk to you like you are a child.

We know you are busy but please treat us with respect and try to see it from our point of view.

Except for being extremely busy and his reception trying to keep up , he is THE best surgeon i have ever dealt with. Every thing else falls away when it comes to his knowledge and the feeling of security and the fact that you in good hands when it comes to something as dangerous as brain surgery, I will recommend him to any and all.

The docter was too busy to even give as a diagnosis. Waited on two occasions where he had indicated that he would come and see us. Nothing happend. Personnel at hospital and his rooms not helpful. He came highly recommended but we wouldn't know regarding his knowledge as he had no time for us
