I recently returned to visit Dr. Matthews 16 years after bunion surgery on both feet. My feet are still great and I am so happy to not have foot pain dominating my life as I get older. The surgery, recovery and long term benefit made it well worth it.

I had a good experience with my bunion surgery with Dr. Matthew in 2018.
I've had no issues whatsoever over the past 3.5 years. The surgery fully solved the problem and recovery was relatively quick.

I feel very disappointed with this podiatrist. I had seen him for over 10 years and I can’t honestly say he paid much attention to my feet concerns. He did provide me with orthotics without checking on my concerns. I can’t recommend this podiatrist.

I live in Saskatchewan and have had bunions for some time. Hearing people here complain about how bad bunion surgery was made me nervous. I did some research for a less invasive bunion surgery and found Dr. Matthews. He does a NEW type of bunion surgery calles a TriCorrectional Bunionectomy (TCB). After a very professional consultation in which he explained everything and answered all of my questions, I booked a TCB for my left foot ( the worst bunion). I could not believe how fast the surgery went ( I even watched a movie on Netflix while he operated ). But the best part was I had no pain whatsover - no, none NADA ZERO! Amazing - but I followed his instructions carefully as you must keep your foot elevated and stay off of it. When I went back after one week to have the cast changed, I was so happy to see my foot looking normal. I was very happy for this surgery as that big bunion was gone. Now I am already booked to have the right foot done. There is so much misinformation out there about how bad bunion surgery is, we need to tell people about Dr. Matthews and the TCB. I thought my bunion was too bad for TCB but he did a wonderful job. The travel to Vancouver was well worth the end result for me and for local women it would be a breeze. Also, the staff are absolutely wonderful. Thank you Dr. Matthews!

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Matthews after a previous horrible bunion surgery experience with with an orthopedic surgeon on my right foot. Dr. Matthews did his tri-correctional surgery 3.5 weeks ago on my left foot and the foot looks great. I had no pain and was able to move around in the cast without crutches from day one. I got into my running shoes after 3 weeks and after a few days of walking already feel quite confident. He explained the procedure, instructed me what to do and is really easy to talk to. He takes time and provided me with everything I needed, including bandages, surgical shoe etc. I would highly recommend him to anyone with bunion problems. I will go back to him with my right foot, for which he might have to do a more invasive surgery as the foot has been messed with before. He was very good at giving me the straight goods, prepared me for the worst case scenario and I have confidence that he will choose the best surgery approach for me once he opened up my right foot.

I had warts for a couple of years and saw multiple doctors(my family doctor, other podiatrists and a dermatologist) with no results. When I saw Dr Mathews he finally did what the others should have been doing all long which is scrape off the dead skin before applying the cantharone so it hits the warts the hardest which the other doctors were too lazy/incompetent to do. One of the other doctors wanted to cut them out which would have meant I would have been off my feet for about a month letting the hole in my foot heal up. If you need to get warts treated trust me this is the guy you want to see!!

My overall experience with Dr Matthews has been an excellent one. He is great at explaining and even draws diagrams as to what is going on with your foot as well as what he intends to do surgically to fix it. His staff are very friendly and helpful. I was anxious about having surgery in the office as well as being awake for procedure I shouldn't have been the experience was a positive one! He is very professional ! I'm two weeks post op and haven't experienced really an pain. As long as you follow doctors orders .... Keep off it!!!! I need surgery on my left foot as well and will be having it done also. I highly recommend Dr Matthews He's the best !!! KM

I had a bunion on my right foot that gave me nothing but problems. I was referred to an Orthopedic Surgeon who misdiagnosed me. A friend referred me to Dr. Matthews. He performed a Bunionectomy on me and I am so relieved now! No pain, my foot is straight, and everything has healed beautifully. He's very smart and his staff is wonderful. He may not have the best bedside manner, but I'd rather have intelligence and efficiency than politeness. Because he's private, I had to pay for the surgery but it was worth every penny. The scar is minimal and on the inside of the foot. Jogging/running before was extrememly painful whereas now, I'm completely pain free!
