Dr Shannon Arntfield is absolutely amazing. Period.

I have never felt more dismissed and overlooked as a patient and human being as I have with this physician. She couldn’t get rid of me as a patient fast enough, and couldn’t be quicker to determine me as “not deserving” of basic levels of care. She is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with health care in Ontario.

I have multiple conditions affected by the hormones in birth control, some are treated by their use, some are exacerbated by them. Dr. Arntfield took the time and did the work to find an option that worked for me, and even referred me to other specialists when needed to manage new side effects. She is very knowledgeable and willing to discuss pros and cons at length when needed and has such an easy and caring bedside manner.

I was referred to her Dr.Arntfield because I was told she was amazing, and I am very hurt and disappointed in her as a doctor, who is supposed to care for everyone. I saw her because there was a clear pattern between my cycle and my epilepsy but she did one test and literally said “we found nothing and I feel uncomfortable being your gynaecologist because you’re here for epilepsy, but as per law, you can stay for 1 year.” Needless to say, I never went back. And guess what? Turns out there is a correlation, it just took a more caring gynaecologist who actually cares and wants to solve problems.

Dr. Arntfield is absolutely amazing, she delivered my first baby and she was so helpful and encouraging during the process. I have nothing negative to say about her, she always makes me feel comfortable during my visits.

Dr Arntfield is probably the kindest doctor I have ever met. I have had issues with doctors in the past being very arrogant and even abusive, so I am reluctant to seek medical help. My family doctor recommended Dr Arntfield because of her reputation. I was treated with such dignity and respect, and Dr Arntfield never made me feel like I was asking stupid questions or that I was taking up her time. She gave me several helpful suggestions for my issues; usually I get told that it’s all in my head. She actually listened to my concerns and agreed that there is likely a medical basis for my problem. How refreshing to be listened to and taken seriously. I would recommend her highly, especially to anyone who is hesitant to see a doctor. Anyone seeing a doctor for the first time should ALWAYS check to see what their College of Physicians and Surgeons says about them, no matter what their rating site says about them. Even doctors who have top ratings may have been disciplined by their College. In Ontario, go to www.cpso.on.ca and type the doctor’s name in the doctor search. If the words Concerns, or Restrictions appear when the page comes up, click on the doctor’s name to see the full explanation. Doctors don’t have to tell their patients when they have had issues, but often it is displayed on their public registration page. I am pleased to say that Dr Arntfield has no issues reported on her public registration page.

I cannot say enough about this wonderful doctor. She is so thoughtful and compassionate. I will never see a male gynaecologist ever again, after some awful experiences. Dr Arntfield is the best gynaecologist I have ever met.

It's been about 4 years since I was diagnosed and surgically treated by Dr. Arntfield, but whenever I hear her name I still recall how professional and compassionate she was. Her entire team was respectful and treated me with care and dignity during a difficult time. Highly recommended!
