Worst doctor ever. Go to central in norristown for a psychiatrist, it’s free. But of course Shamsi would never tell you that since all he cares about is getting your money.

Avoid this doctor at all costs regardless of your medical needs – it turns out that he treats many people for bipolar that DO NOT HAVE IT and the side effects of bipolar medication are awful – especially if you do not have it! I went to this guy with what turned out to be a relatively straightforward anxiety disorder (later treated very effectively by another doctor) and was diagnosed with bipolar by Shamsi. Several different courses of bipolar medication drove me into the deepest depression and feeling utterly worthless and like life was not worth living anymore. It took an extraordinary intervention by a friend of a friend who is a psychiatrist in another state to pull me out of the tailspin. Only a completely incompetent or deliberately malicious physician would take my symptoms and diagnose bipolar. I was briefly treated by Dr. Daniel Hartman at Philmont Guidance who told me that Shamsi had worked for him years ago and that Shamsi was overtreating for bipolar even then. So even other psychiatrists quickly recognize that this guy is a quack but I don’t know if physicians have a code of silence that prevents them from saying more.

I hate this man more than I can express. Horrible doctor that didn't care at all about how I felt or about the "care" he was providing. Also he is extremely misogynistic. He shamed me because I wanted to take medication that didn't cause sexual side effects. He asked me questions about my sex life and asked if I was having "pre-marital" sex. I was in my late 20's. F*** this guy. Run for the hills, he's a horrible doctor.

Discharged me without warning. He claimed I was not taking my meds when I swear I was. I called him saying that one med was having awful side effects so I stopped then he gave me new meds. I called him after our appointment that same week telling him I did not want to take the new meds. He never called me back. His office stoped replying to me. I eventually found out he discharged me even though I was still taking other meds that have severe withdrawal effects.

It is very hard to find a psychiatrist. What he did was unprofessional and unethical. It put me in a very bad position.

Mistook a thyroid problem for bipolar disease. Put me on a drug that I told him hadn't worked with a previous physician. Became extremely agitated when I told him I was leaving his practice. I don't know if he gets that angry when any patient questions his judgment, or if he was so upset because I was female. The very next doctor took one look at me and had me take a thyroid test - I was extremely hypothyroid and going on a thyroid medication immediately improved my mood, constant hot flashes, etc. If it were possible to give a 0 rating I would. Shamsi is absolutely horrible.

The only thing I will miss about this practice is the awesome staff they were great and always helpful but the doctor was a nightmare he wouldn't listen to you he would ignore what you had to say he put me on medications four conditions I didn't have one being Depakote where I gained 20 lb and at the end when I'm still trying to get a said I should get ECT which is Electro convulsive therapy which is last result and no one even does anymore and when I have told people this they have been astonished and disgusted also stay away from Danielle as a therapist she was terrible she doesn't listen she is very pushy and is not there for you will only push Concepts on that she thinks you need to know but if you're not feeling good how can you interpret something good luck out there

I would never ever recommend this guy to anyone. He put me on a medication and I had extremely bad side effects to it. I went in and asked to be switched because I was getting so sick and he left me on it and said it took more time. When in reality it got much, much worse. He prescribes medication so quickly. It seemed like every time I was there he was upping dosages or adding things in the mix. He also barely spoke in each appointment, was not very friendly, and does not listen.

This guy is the worst. Snap judgements, while being rushed through Your appointment. You feel terrible leaving his office. He gets very agitated if you question anything he is trying to put you on. When you tell him your not feeling well and describe your symptoms, he will just discard your feelings and will go as far as to say your receptors have enough you should be fine. I'm a teacher, I explained how important it was that I function well and get enough sleep. He couldn't of cared less. The greatest concern I have about this doctor is how he tells you, you shouldn't be feeling how you do. I guess he uses national averages to prescribe meds but statistics tell nothing about individuals. As a result, he offers no personal care to his patients. If your having serious issues he is not the guy you want to see. Do not waste your time. Any doctor is a step up from this doctor!

Awful. His lack of care for his patients is astonishing. He is very quick to react negatively to any questioning or hesitation on the patients' part regarding medications that he prescribes like candy. He tries to guilt patients into taking the meds by saying that their hesitation to go on hard drugs without any explanation of what they are intended to solve/what their side effects are is simply because they don't want to admit that they have a problem. Nope, just would like to know what he thinks the problem is and how the drugs will solve it--wouldn't be seeing him if I wasn't open to the idea of medication. I made that mistake with him before (just taking the meds he prescribed without question) before, and it ended up doing more harm than good. In addition, Shamsi frequently runs behind when ordinarily he only sees you for a few minutes, and overall, you don't feel better after having left the office, as he makes the patient feel as though he knows better about their own body and feelings than they themselves do. Find a better doctor.

If you care about yourself or your loved one, DO NOT send him to this man. After seeing him for three years, he still did not even recognize me when I came in. He prescribes with a total lack of regard to medical history (prescribing weight-gaining drugs to someone with a history of anorexia), and his lack of responsiveness in crisis situations is disturbing. He literally had his assistant call me to tell me to "find another psychiatrist", and that was it. The fact that he is still practicing is astonishing, and I have been told by multiple psychologists that they have stopped referring because of his carelessness with his patients.
