I had my right hip replaced by Dr Wotherspoon in Dec'17, with excellent results. He is a very professional and competant doctor with excellent people skills. PEI is truly fortunate to have him!

I broke my ankle and tore numerous ligaments in my leg back in June of 2016. Dr. Wootherspoon was a very attentive doctor/ surgeon and very informative. He warned me of things I could expect after my surgery. He was consistent with following up with him for months after my surgery. Oct of this year, 2017, I again had my ankle operated on to remove the hardware from my previous surgery as it was bothering me...which I was warned could happen before my first surgery. Because my first surgery was done through the ER I wasn't prepared for anything. This past Oct. I was very prepared. I had another one of my doctors contact him about some of the medications I was on. Both doctors knew of my concern of pain this time. I was not given proper pain medication for the initial break and surgery. I went through horrible pain and for months. This time it had been talked about before hand and I was assured that I wouldn't have to suffer like I did the last time. I was extremely disappointed that I was not treated properly for pain and once again had to endure much discomfort. Thank God it wasn't as long as before. I have a very high tolerance to pain. I really felt that if I were a cat or dog and had needed surgery that they would have been treated for pain far better than I was as a human being. Other than this complaint I can only say that I didn't like some of the lengthy waits that I had to see him.. I like his staff, they are all informative and helpful too. We shared a lot of laughs together which helped with my nervousness. I would def have Dr. Wootherspoon operate on me again if need be....with a promise to treat me better for pain!

Not Sure why my review was removed but For the interests of others, And at the request of friends going threw similar issues. I will redo it. This time I wont say how Cranky his staff was. ;)
I Saw this DR Twice. Once for a Knee second for a hip, I didn't need him for my Knee as a Toronto DR took care of it, ( I did that because my DR in Ontario has the means to repair the knee in one surgery not two as other said I needed) I had waited so long to get it repaired it had caused a Very Painful condition in my right hip( threw no Fault of Scott but another PEI GUY). Just before I went to Ontario to get the knee repaired I booked a apt to see Scott for my Hip. Thinking that if it got better I would cancel.. (took About 7 Months see him) AS I was rehabbing the knee the hip got so bad I couldn't hardly sit and my hip felt like it was seizing up.
Thinking Thank God I made that apt when it did, I went to see him about it. He told me there was nothing wrong with it, I had Tendonitous and I should go to Physio for it, work it hard and it will get more painful before it gets better. My xrays said the hip ball wasn't round but he said the xray was wrong and he wished the xray department would stop reporting that because it made him to busy. Never asked me back, Nothing. Made a very feeble attempt at an exam.
Sooo off to physio to WORK it hard, I knew something was seriously wrong but I gave him the benefit of the doubt( I had been going to physio already for 2 months already for it)well it got so bad that I had to go to Emergency because I couldn't get out of my truck That again got me no where either. But they did get me out of my truck and then made me stand ( cause I couldn't sit) for 5.5 hours, to basically tell me take a hike and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
I heard from a friend a condition called Labrum tears with Impingement, he had it and had it repaired in Halifax buy Dr Wong. He said my symptoms were similar to his, but not to bother messing around with Scott anymore, because the procedure to repair it is not available in PEI.
I waited 6 more weeks to get a report from Scott to my GP, physio and Cortisone shot is what he suggested,. ( didn't tell me that I could go back or cortisone but the letter did.)
In any case me and my GP talked about it and he ordered a second opinion, ( on my request).
I went to a DR in Moncton who can perform Hip Arthroscopies, (DR Wongs wait time is stupid long 3 years this time last year.) Completely different experience, caring very nice man. By the time I saw him I was in such bad shape I literally could barely move. He immediately sent me to xray right after my first consult and yes the hip ball was not round, but not badly deformed.
Sent me to get an MRI ASAP, ( I paid for it in Mocton) I was hurting so bad I just paid to get it done fast.
And 2 days later I had results. Complex labrum tear and cam impingement.
I have been since repaired and its fine now 2 small incisions is all it took. My Moncton Dr Saved my life, without him I would be in a very very bad place right now. I cant Praise the man enough.

Just had an initial consult, so my experience with him is limited. Staff were friendly and efficient. The Dr. seemed competent and willing to help, but maybe a little rushed. I'll add a better review after my next appointment.
