I saw Dr. Shannon O’Connor while undergoing treatment for breast cancer at the age of 32. She was extremely insensitive to my wishes; multiple times she insisted that I would be better off having both breast removed (I only had cancer in one breast) and my ovaries and uterus removed, this is after I informed her I was interested in having children at some point down the road. I felt extremely disrespected by her, she was dismissive of me and I nearly underwent a surgery which I didn’t need for insertion of a port that I would use a total of 4 times, but thankfully the radiologist was knowledgeable and let me know that for 4 sessions of chemotherapy, a port isn’t needed. After one of our sessions, I walked out of my appointment crying, I felt traumatized by her lack of care, concern and medical ethics especially as I was going through a very difficult time in my life, wanting to preserve the possibility of having children while undergoing cancer treatments and she showed neither understanding or any empathy at all. I do not recommend this doctor unless you want to be mistreated, disrespected and completely dismissed as a patient and a human being all while going through the difficult time of dealing with cancer and cancer treatments. Choose a doctor who is ethical, who respects you, listens to you and isn’t motivated by selfishness and purely monetary gain.

Dr OConnor is VERY young and inexperienced. She is also highly emotional and unreliable. She is unable to emotionally remove herself from her patients and behave in a professional manner. She is overly dramatic and under informative. Many times I would have to remind her of important information or procedures needed before moving forward. She also seems to rely on google and other doctors for the majority of her information. I would not recommend her to someone undergoing serious treatment. Also, she tends to be out a lot so more than 2/3 of our appointments ended up being with an equally inexperienced nurse practitioner. There also seems to be little to no communication between the two regarding any issues or concerns that arose during check ups.

She is very accessible and always explains things very well. She is very supportive with me and my family and always seems to genuinely care about us. She is very knowledgeable about breast cancer and is up to date on the current literature. I cannot say anything bad about her at all!

My family and I receive high support from her. She's so professional, and shows deep knowledge in her job. I highly recommend her.

Would not recommend doctor. Does not have time to speak to patient's family members about medical recommendations even when patient is unable to do so him/herself. Was told she did not have time to speak to me and was told not to call back. This is unacceptable when the patient is in the late stages of cancer and critically ill.
