My parents have been bringing me to Dr. Ted since I was 2 years old. I am now 22 and I can honestly say I have never had an issue with Dr. Ted. Sometimes the hygienists get aggressive with flossing, but Dr. Ted himself has always been kind, he explains things, and answers my questions with no issue. Also, in my 20 years of being his patient, I have never witnessed anything questionable. Some of the reviews on this page suggest he's rude and aggressive, and that is absolutely ridiculous.

I have been taking both my children to Dr Ted since they were little (they are now teens). They loved the staff and felt very comfortable with Dr Ted through the years. My son had terrible sores in his mouth and Dr Ted gave him a mouthwash that made things more bearable. He even squeezed him in at the last minute. He is a very accommodating caring doctor. And yes kids do get scared of dentists, especially if the they see their parents scared. If everyone is calm things tend to go better. I feel the staff and office environment are very welcoming to kids. There are video games, movies, gifts and friendly people.

I don't understand what all these parents expect. Kids cry at dentists, it's a dentist not a zoo. Growing up I had horrible dentists. If I would have had a guy like Ted Loiben I would have not been so apprehensive. The way he is around my kids is great. When they went the first time they cried because it was new and scary. I was calming them but ITS NEW AND SCARY. They always let me stay in the room with the kids and Dr. Ted is so nice to them and complimentary of their behavior even when they don't always behave. The staff there is very kid friendly and they have TV's in the room while they're being worked on. I think instead of talking nasty about a dentist teach your kids what a dentist is before taking them. Explain what might happen and how much quicker it is if they don't cry. The dentist's job is to fix teeth not babysit. Dr. Ted is, however, great with kids. instead of yelling at the staff because you can't control your child, help them help you and your children.

I take my two children here after leaving another pediatric dentist because they had an assistant cleaning their teeth instead of a registered dental hygienist. In this office, you will get a hygienist IF you ask for one. I feel the office does an adequate job in treatment and my kids feel comfortable there.

I had a similar experience as a few of the others have. This was my second time at this so called man. First time was great, this time was HORRIBLE. My son gagged a few times when they were cleaning his teeth, so i told the technician to not do it anymore. Then my son would not let them continue and started to cry that he was scared he was going to throw up. The tech went to get the dr while i tried to calm him down. Loiben walked in and said to "put him in the chair" without even saying hello to my son first. After placing him in the chair, he told my son that he didnt like his behavior and then continued to grab my sons head, he put his arm around my sons head and pinned his head in between his body and arm so that he couldnt move. My son was HYSTERICAL, I told him that was enough and he didnt stop, only when he was ready to did he comply. Told the office I will never be back there. AWFUL PERSON.... lacks patience and compassion for children.

Just as it's important to take your children to a doctor that specializes in kids (pediatrician), it's also important to take your children to a dentist that specializes in kids, like Dr. Ted. My 19 year old daughter was a patient of Dr. Ted's since she was 3, and I'm excited to be going back now with my step kids. Dr. Ted was always willing to answer questions, and use his expertise to help us. His staff is professional, friendly and works to help kids be comfortable. The atmosphere at the Smile Island is great, too! My kids are actually excited about going there next time!

Dr. Ted has treated my son and daughter for 18 years. They have had zero dental problems. He knows how to handle kids and my son was a difficult one to deal with. We have been very happy with his service in fact we make a 45 minute drive 4 (2 if we can get the kids together, our problem not his)times a year to see him.

i have taken my children there for 17 1/2 years. I have always been very pleased with Dr. Ted's service and his staff. I agree that as his business has grown largely, and the personal service is not what it used to be , because Dr. Ted is very busy. I don't feel that contributes to the actual care though. Dr. Ted has always made time to have a side consultation with me if it's deemed necessary to discuss the health of my children's teeth. My kids have always been very comfortable going, and are excited to always go back. He explains everything to me, and i don't have to probe him for info. Dr. Ted tells it like it is, and doesn't sugar coat anything. I have recommended many patients to Dr. Ted, and each one has been very satisfied. I will continue to go there until my kids are too old! Thank you Dr. Ted for the wonderful service you have always provided to my children. Sincerely....Kelly

We have been taking our 2 children (ages 8 and 16) to Dr Ted for 7 years and have always been pleased with the care and service we have received, at times the staff seems a bit "over the edge" but for the most part everyone is friendly and can really help put a child at ease, we have always had everything explained in detail as to what was wrong with their teeth.I would recommend Dr Ted.

Dr. Loiben has been our dentist for several years for our three children including one with special needs. In each case, I think his rapport with our children was excellent and the quality of his work was very good.
