Biography
I grew up in Sargent, Nebraska, a tiny town of 500 people. Growing up I spent most of my time in small town Nebraska and however my summers were spent at isolated fishing resort in northern Saskatchewan, Canada, that my family owned and operated. In college at Nebraska Wesleyan University, I was accepted to medical school at UNMC (University of Nebraska Medical College). In med school at UNMC, I was instantly drawn to surgery, particularly plastic surgery. I matched into and completed a categorical general surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. While there I also completed a 2 year research fellowship to set myself apart from other applicants to plastic surgery. From there, I matched into an independent three-year plastic surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic Florida, where I have had the privilege of training under many excellent mentors, including Martin Newman and David Friedman. I am looking for a practice where I will be exposed to a nice mix of cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries, however I have a strong desire to do aesthetic surgery given the opportunity. I have a strong background in all aspects of plastic surgery however in the future I want to focus on aesthetics to improve that aspect of my skill set. A collegial environment with strong mentorship and colleagues that want me to succeed is paramount to me. I consider myself a tremendous team player, always willing to help a colleague or friend, and never one to put someone else down to build myself up. I consider my bedside manner and ability to connect with patients to be my strongest attribute, as my current program director, chairman, and references will attest. My wife is a human resource professional who wants a safe and fun community for our wild, yet amazing 3, 6 and 7-year-old children. We have enjoyed our time in Florida and feel that it is the perfect location for our family and to start my career.

I was referred to Dr. Holmes by my mohs surgeon for closure on my face following cancer surgery. The area was large and very visible. The office got me a quick appointment, and Dr. Holmes did the closure of my wound. The area required multiple stitches and a large incision on my cheek for closure. Dr. Holmes texted my wife every day for 3 days to send an updated picture of the area so he could give us treatment instructions. On the 4th day he had us come to his office so he could look at the area. He was so attentive and knowledgeable, which we really appreciated. Today the area has healed completely, with very little scaring. Dr. Holmes will see us again in 6 months to check for any scaring treatment needed. He is the best plastic surgeon I have ever been to, and a great person! I want to give him the highest rating possible!! He is the best!!!
