I have anxiety to the RAGE level (my brain map shows). I barely like the voice of men, but the rhythm of his voice does not aggreviate me AT ALL. He speaks really clearly and slowly. I can focus easily when he talks. His questions are so complex and awesome... not boring and random questions.

After requesting for a switch to Dr Ambrose, he started seeing me for a few 15 minute sessions every three weeks which he claimed were mini "Psychodynamic therapy" sessions based mainly on it's principles, with two understudy students present from the first session until I asked them to go away at the start of second session; and after that when I requested for 1 hour sessions, Dr Ambrose said he has no time for that.

The 15 minute sessions every three weeks had proven to be gravely insufficient for "Psychodynamic therapy". When I complained to Dr Ambrose about that, he suggested arranging for his apprentice to see me for 1 hour sessions starting July "with him present during the sessions as supervisor"; I had elaborately seeked clarification with Dr Ambrose that he will indeed be present at the session and got affirmative replies; Dr Ambrose had also claimed to have suddenly "accessed I am suitable" to be seen by his apprentice.

Next session when I tried to clarify with Dr Ambrose the arrangement of the impending July therapist transition, he changed his tune and said his apprentice will be seeing me for 1 hr sessions without him being present at the sessions, offhandedly insisting it was a "misunderstanding" and "miscommunication" on his part that gave me the wrong idea that he will be present at the sessions.

Following session when I told Dr Ambrose I am getting suspicious of his sincerity and willingness in helping me and that I am considering changing hospital, Dr Ambrose said "you cannot do that and you have to see me" in an authoritative tone and suddenly changed his mind to personally see me for 1 hr sessions starting July instead as he again suddenly thinks his apprentices are "not experienced enough to see me".

Very offhanded, flippant or capricious suggestion or decision making style Dr Ambrose has if you ask me!

Dr Ambrose then changed my next 15 minute session from my usual 2pm to a new 930am slot, disallowing me to change back to afternoon session saying he does not allow "special request".

Really? Why suddenly change my usual afternoon timing to early morning? And when I asked the staff if there is an afternoon slot, I was deemed as trying to make a "special request" by the unfriendly staff citing Dr Ambrose's request to see me in the morning.

Did Dr Ambrose tell the staff to reject my request for my usual afternoon slot saying that it was a "special request"?

That manner of communication was accusatory, inappropriate, rhetorical and passive aggressive because normally Dr Ambrose will confirm with me the timing in his office and the counter staff will later nicely ask if the timing was ok even when it was the usual timing and sometimes even offered alternatives.

Why this time the timing was being abruptly changed and rudely shoved down the throat? It wasn't even mentioned as the only time slot available but "Dr Ambrose wants to see me at that time slot" pointedly by the staff.

Why that sudden authoritative tone? Have they ever considered 930am might be too early for me?

Case manager called me this week to tell me "Dr Ambrose said there is no 30 July 1 hour slot but only a 30 July 30 minutes slot marked out for me", and that even the 30 minutes slot was cancelled by some unaccountable mysterious person in the clinic who according to her "is not Dr Ambrose" himself.

Dr Ambrose had said to me during many of our "therapy" sessions he would be planning for one hour psychodynamic therapy slots for me starting 30 July, but the case manager told me Dr Ambrose had said to her it was actually all along a 30 minutes slot that he was planning for me. And the case manager also told me even that 30 minutes slot on 30 July was cancelled by a mystery person in the clinic, without informing me even! What a liar and very dishonest, inconsistent, strange and capricious behaviour from all of you. I am very sure this is LGBT discrimination! I am going to make a migistrate's complaint against all of you.

I had a terrible experience with this doctor. I didn't feel my best intentions were in mind. I do not trust this doctor for myself and definitely wouldn't recommend her to anyone.

Who cares if he has a bit of a creepy socially weird thing going! Come on people. He's here to treat people not be your friend. Sure, I agree he comes across as odd and awakened, but he nailed the diagnosis and in my mind got the right treatment going. That's what I care about. I would call him socially uncomfortable, not creepy like previous poster labels him. And really, who cares!! He gets the job done

I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Cheng. The impact it had on my can never be reversed. Dr. Cheng's own stability should be questioned. I found him very creepy and I will never be the same because of the misdiagnosis he made. This has affected my work, life, family and more. I am so sorry that I was stuck with this doctor at the time. I would not recommend him to anyone and would suggest and audit or review of his practices.

Really helpful. Met him when I was depressed after an OD attempt, while in hospital. He was pretty much instrumental in helping me recover, fix my relations with my family and overall helping me pull myself up from rock bottom.

My son him a couple of years ago when he got sick for first time at start of university. Good knowledge. style of interaction is socially awkward (ie not good eye contact) but gets the job done. I think he's shy. I liked him overall.

He's friendly, listens well, and doesn't like to over-medicate. I feel comfortable telling him what's going on, and trust that he'll do his best to keep my meds as low as possible while still being effective. I never feel rushed, and I feel that he works with me more as a partnership versus simply doctor-patient. I've never been happier with a psychiatrist!

I've battled mental health issues for years, due to my pre-dispostion and personal truamas in my life. After MANY years of reaching out for help, mainly to my family doctor of 32 years, at Burke Mountian Medical, with very little resolve, instead being constantly disregarded was much easier. Meeting with Dr. Cheng has been life changing and really validating, to my personal situation. He is the FIRST doctor to treat me as a human being, in very very long time, rather then an inconvienence and dismissing me. I am beyond greatful. It's not so easy to find a doctor that you actually get along with, is'nt a know it all, but is knowledgeable and very helpful. That you actually feel comfortable spilling your guts too, is sincerely attentive, kind, compassionate and non judgemental. I would highly recommend Dr. Cheng, regardless of your personal circumstance.
