Biography

Confident, curious and witty, Dr. Watson has an easy-going, upbeat personality. People are quickly drawn to his genuine warmth and caring sense of humor. Dr. Watson grew up in the mountains along the Snake River in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he learned the value of hard day’s work. People in Idaho are tough--like his father always said, "Tough country, tough people." He comes from a long line of hard working individuals from Pennsylvania: his father was a milk and cheese processor, his grandfather was a machinist, his great-grandfather was a small town grocery store owner, and his great-great grandfather was a hard-working farmer. Graduating from college with a masters degree in Electrical Engineering in the early 90's, Dr. Watson worked at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory in the Idaho Desert on nuclear reactors, then went on to IBM in Austin, Texas where he worked for five years on the RISC System 6000 and the Power PC chip (the forerunner of the processors in Apple computers today). Yearning for that life-long desire to help people directly, he went back to school in Houston, Texas, where he earned his Doctorate in Optometry. In his leisure, he likes to tinker around the house, read a good book, and travel around the country. As a caring professional, Dr. Watson believes that the more he gives of himself, the more he receives. “I want to help improve the quality of people’s lives. I know I’m happiest when I help people. I’m not sure why I decided to become an engineer—I suppose because I come from a long line of precise, mechanically-inclined people, but I’ve always wanted to be a doctor. After my first day working on the eyes, I thought that this was my true calling. After doing this for more than a decade, I still love what I do and I always love to help!”
