I have been a patient of the family medicine practice for 3 years. Madelyn Palmer is suppose to be my physician. I have never seen her one time. When I have asked to see the doctor for an appointment, I have always been told she is not available. I always see a nurse practitioner. I am now looking for a new doctor in the Littleton area that I would feel comfortable with my care.

I am an RN and I've been a patient of Dr. Palmer since 1999 and have always been satisfied with her until last year. After I'd lost most my hair & suffered from severe fatigue due to profound iron deficiency anemia, I finally referred myself to a hematologist for iron infusions. Dr. Palmer did absolutely NOTHING to assure I received the best care for my anemia. She only had medical assistants call me to tell me to double my iron, YEAR AFTER YEAR when I'd made it clear that due to previous surgery, I don't absorb nutrients well, particularly iron. Duhh..if you don't absorb 2 iron pills, you won't absorb 4 or 6 iron pills. WTF! My problem with her is if she doesn't know what to do, at least have the common sense enough to refer her patient to a specialist. I haven't been back to her since & my hematologist's office immediately suggested I find a new PCP, which I finally did. My hair has grown back & I now have energy to do normal activities.

I understand patient’s frustration with Office Staff. They seem much stressed, and not well versed in customer service. However, being a patient of Dr. Palmer’s for 3 + years – I have learned how to work with the Office Staff to get my needs met, and things are now going fairly well with the staff. This does by the way seem to be the norm with any Physicians Office staff that I have had contact with for some time now. Dr. Palmer is very dedicated and really does care about all the patients that she see’s. I have received calls from her after Clinic Office hours when I – or my family has been ill. Just Doctor checking up on how we are doing. My family will be staying with Dr. Palmer for a long time to come.

I completely agree with the last comment... I've yet to ever see Dr. Palmer herself! The last time I visited I felt very uncomfortable with the nurse I saw and felt like the things I asked for were out of the norm. I asked to be tested for all STDs just to be safe and they acted like I had come off my shift on Colfax. Two different nurses made me feel like a bad person because I wanted to be safe... It's unacceptable to feel like taking care of yourself is a bad thing. Other times I have been there I've loved it, this last time was very very different. When I finally got the test results the nurse that called had no information on the questions I asked, I had to go to WebMD to get the info I needed.

I have been a patient of Dr Palmer' for a number of years and, as her practice has grown, my overall satisfaction has declined significantly. The office way too busy now. The staff seems stressed. Additionally, it's hard to actually see a doctor anymore -- they typically try to push you off to a nurse practitioner. Last year, I was seen by a NP who completely mis-diagnosed my condition. I ended up in the hospital emergency room as a result of the medicine she prescribed. There is absolutely no personal follow-up care to see how patients are doing and you have to track down your own lab results. I'm shopping for a new doctor!
