Dr. Jessica Flinchum has interest in physician wellness and burn-out. She has recently returned to academics from the community setting and uses her community time to give perspective and insight to residents and students. working in Blount memorial Hospital , a provider for Blue cross , as an ER dr, but she herself has no contract with Blue cross, so blue cross pays nothing on her bill. Yeah, you go to the correct hospital , but apparently need to be checking credentials of each Dr. you see while laying on a stretcher. The practice is more and more common, called balance billing. Aggrevated Dr's unhappy with insurance problems, list themselves as nonproviders so they can charge more , and intimidate the patient into paying thousands out of pocket for something that should be covered.
