She showed no concern when I discussed my excruciating pelvic pains during my first pregnancy. She was so quick to dismiss it and consistently said that it was "normal." With each step I took I felt like I was being stabbed with a knife. I could not walk without support and her response was still that this was "normal." For 4 long months I endured this thinking it was "normal." I finally had to contact the emergency line when the pain became so unbearable. The MDs that I spoke with said that no this is not normal and discussed a treatment plan for me. Needless to say, I would not recommend this doctor to anyone.

She's always about to leave during my visiting. I cannot feel any of her caring. She just answer my questions simply, but never give information actively. I wouldn't recommend her to my friends.

Dr. Yu told me that the symptoms I was describing sounded like endometriosis in "inoperable places," to use her words, maybe with IBS. Then, another Kaiser doc told me my symptoms were IBS. I went with a PPO after that to see some world experts in endometriosis and pelvic pain (go big or go home), Dr. Camran Nezhat's office at Stanford, who were WONDERFUL. I had those "inoperable places" operated on less than a week after my initial consult. The endometriosis was extremely advanced, affecting many different organs, including my digestive system. I'm now symptom free - no screwed up pain or IBS anything - and back to normal life. I wish Dr. Yu all the best - I just hope in the future that if someone hears "inoperable," that either that person seeks an expert or that Dr. Yu wouldn't be afraid to refer to an expert or get booster trainings, etc. For example, it would've been key to know that IBS symptoms happen BECAUSE of digestive endo, not because of some separate illness....

She really, really tried to make me feel better, to her credit, but every time I left her office, I was in tears and felt hopeless. I have extremely painful endometriosis and ovary cysts. Dr. Yu recommended I get Mirena to treat the endometriosis. When I got the Mirena, it hurt so bad that I went into shock in the office and passed out. When I came back to Dr. Yu for my checkups, she said that I'd just have to deal with the pain I was still having: Mirena is THE last treatment before hysterectomy. AND, there was nothing she could do about the cysts. I asked her about endo surgery, but she said to wait until I wanted to conceive. Nevermind my horrific pain. My current gyno, a much older and well-recommended doctor (Barry Brummer) disagreed with Dr. Yu, saying that Mirena is NOT even a treatment for endometriosis because the progesterone only stays in the uterus, and doesn't circle system-wide. I'm getting help now and I would not go back to Dr. Yu. Sorry.
