I had an aortic valve replacement in 2019. It took 5 weeks before the surgery was done. I know question why the Ross Procedure was not performed. I was in top shape. No diseases, athletic and weighing in at 130 pounds. I was not pleased with the scar that I have on my chest and if I recall he had a Russian assistant open my chest cavity. I can see that the cut was crooked and see a larger scar below my breast. I was seen 1 month later and he barely looked at my scar. I was in and out of his office in 5 minutes. I know now that the Ross procedure would have had given me the same expectancy like any other non valve replacement person. I know have 8 years less in my life expectancy. Hoping that cardiac surgery will have improved in the next few years since I still have no other health issues but I have heart failure. I am not so sure he should be number 4 on the list of heart surgeons unless he has had major improvements with his after surgery care, communications, punctuality since he was gone so many times in conferences all over the world and helpfulness. I felt that I was used as a learning patient for his assistant. Do not be deceived by his good looks and smile.
