I’m a 49 year old male. I had a double CABG on Sept. 6th, 2019, at Yale. I had to make the choice between stents and open heart surgery. It was a tough choice at the time, but it has worked out great for me. The surgery went smoothly, and my recovery was uneventful. I feel guilty reading about other people’s experiences because mine was so easy. Dr. Bonde did a thing with my wrists to see if my arteries there would be suitable. In the end he used two mammary arteries instead. He stayed late to talk to me, and explained the risks well. The only downside was the follow up appointment. It got rescheduled twice, and I needed his OK to go back to work.

Dr. Bonde is extremely intelligent, but able to explain complex medical issues clearly and simply. I had a complicated story that started with a virulent Blois infection that resulted in a colony of bacteria in my damaged artificial aortic valve. So the infection had to be cleared before replacement surgery could happen. Dr. Bonde oversaw and coordinated the whole team to safely arrive at that point. He replaced my aortic valve and did an additional repair on the aorta itself, based upon what he saw during the procedure. His surgery was so expert that I was out of the ICU quickly, and home 2 days early. He has a kind of sixth sense that allows him to see things that others miss. I can recommend him without reservation.
