I have been a patient of Dr. Leventhal's for over 20 years and have always been completely satisfied with his care along with the entire staff at the Dental Center in Perry Hall. My normal hygenist, Dawn, is also excellent and very thorough.

In Feb 2010, my son had an initial dental visit with Dr. Eugene Leventhal, a dentist in Glen Burnie, MD. Dr. Leventhal said that my son needed root canals, post & cores, and crowns on almost all of his teeth.

Dr. Leventhal performed that extensive dental work on my son over a 1-year period, at a cost of over $40,000. I found his manner to be gruff and his front-office staff unfriendly, but I naively assumed that he was, at least, competent.

In 2014, my son moved to Florida and began seeing another dentist. At the initial visit, the Florida dentist took a full set of X-rays. What he discovered was appalling. Eight (8) of the root canals had been improperly done. The x-rays clearly showed under-extended or over-extended root canal fillings as well as roots that were left unfilled, broken post drills, and even evidence that one post was drilled out the side of the root. The majority of the crowns were ill-fitting, with open and bulky and overhanging margins, allowing bacteria to cause decay at the margins as well as severe inflammation of his gum tissue. The Florida dentist showed us the X-rays and pointed out each of the problems.

In my opinion, the incompetence of Dr. Leventhal is deplorable. As a result of his apparent ineptness, my son had to go through another year-long sequence of painful and expensive dental treatments. Eight (8) root canals were redone by an endodontist in Florida (two of which required surgery); new post & cores were made for six (6) teeth; and almost all of the crowns had to be remade due to poor fit and/or need to re-do the root canals This has cost another $43,000.

This dentist should have his license removed and never be allowed to touch another patient! I am filing a complaint with the Maryland Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene, Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners, and pray that they will take measures to protect the public from him.

Leventhal is a psychopath. Went in for a filling repair and he pried on and broke my tooth, not with a typical dental tool but with a heavier prying tool his assistant retrieved from a drawer. He yanked it out of my mouth after fracturing my molar with it and in doing so chipped the bottom edge off of my right incisor. He then abruptly told me I needed a crown. I was in no pain when I went in to his office. Four months later after much pain, paying to have the crown removed, a root canal performed and a new crown, I had to have the tooth pulled. Stay away from The Dental Center.

I was sent to him by Donated Dental. He came into the room didn't even introduce himself. He stood behind me and talked so that I didn't even know what he looked like. He looked into my mouth and told me I needed all kinds of work and crowns. When he found out I was from Donated Dental Services suddenly I didn't need anything done. He was extremely rude to me and treated me like a second class citizen. My gums are receding and teeth are shifting however he told Donated Dental I didn't need any work done yet the dental school told me I needed a craon and my gums fixed. His chair-side manner sucks. He's extremely rude and I left there in tears. Find another dentist! He needs to be reported to the dental board.
