I did not l care, Dr. Zhai, the first few times that I met with her but over time I found her to be caring, she answered all my questions.

Dr. Zhai was my wife’s principle caregiver in her struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was more interested in the shoes I wore, and what I did for an occupation, than she was with my wife’s plight. She taunted my wife by repeatedly telling her how “sharp” I was, while she struggled with the loss of self. I had hopes that at the end of this medical assessment, we would receive a prescription for a drug to possibly slow this relentless disease. This would not be the case. The doctor ordered a thyroid test and recommended my wife take a daily low-dose aspirin. Dr. Zhai’s overall demeanor was more a bully than a physician. Five weeks following our initial appointment with this neurologist, we would finally have access to the drugs that could possibly help us. Cultural difference not withstanding, there is no excuse for the behavior we observed and were subjected to.

Very pleased with Dr. Zhai- sent to her by another specialist-for a possible pinched nerve in my neck, but she also assessed me for a low back/sciatica type problem as well. Ordered diagnostic test for both and was patient and not rushed!

She really takes time to go over all of my concerns each time I have an appointment. Even asks multiple times if there is anything else. She works with my other doctors to coordinate care. I have been very happy with my care under Dr Zhai.

On my very first visit with her she diagnosed me wrong because she refused to listen to my symptoms. It was only after I told her I thought she was wrong that she decided to do a test to prove to me I had no clue what I was talking about. She went on to tell me that her asst would be calling me back with the results because she was far to busy to make phone calls. As she is rushing me out of her office I couldn't see because of blurry vision and she didn't even try to help with how to getting us back to the waiting room other than rattle off left and right and look for the arrows. She requested that I bring her a CD on my first MRI back even though I lived a hour away. The spinal tap confirmed I did have MS so she ordered another MRI because she couldn't diagnosed me without having 7 lesions. The top part of my spinal and neck was all she requested because it didn't matter if I had lesions on the bottom half. My next appt with her she spent 15 mins explaining I was diagnosed with MS, that she wanted to send me to St. Louis for a second opinion. Then she left the room and her then asst. Mike came in and spent 2 to 5 mins explaining He was going to request my medicine (copaxone) from the insurance company but that they would deny it so he would have to appeal it, the process was going to take a month. I asked about my cd and he said it was in the mail (that was a lie, he never mailed it). Her new asst had to mail it over a month later so that I could actually get an appt at Washington university. I kept asking about the progress of my medicine I would find out a month later it had NEVER been requested on Jan 18th, I finally got it on March 3rd. The worse part of this whole mess is she NEVER treated me for the episode I had been having since Sept. She told me that the pain I was having usually isn't treated in MS patients but would prescribe me gabapentin. I continued to get worse and at the end of Feb she ordered 3 one hour treatments of steroids. The steroids didn't help so now she wants to see me again. I am now in the process of researching for a new neurologist.

Very helpful and knowledgeable. Take time to diagnose and to explain to me and family. Truly concern about me well being not just making money like some others.
