I saw Dr. Karikaran in January. She was brief in her evaluation and more interested in non-neurological issues. I was diagnosed with severe restless leg and given a prescription. I was able to get a second opinion in February. I was told in the initial appt. I likely had MS. My diagnosis was confirmed March 13th. Thankful I listened to my gut and not Dr. Karikaran.

I was referred to her by PCP because o am experiencing headaches and blurred vision. I am having dizziness and blurry vision. My appointment was at 1:30 and she saw me in a timely manner. I was surprised but happy UNTIL.....I had to explain to her TWICE that I was referred to her by my PCP and NOT NP. I immediately got the sense that she wasn't listening or distracted.

She then begin to ask me what my health issues were and I went over them. She then asked what medications that I take and I told her what I took and why. One medication that I take for SLEEP is Quetiapine for sleep insomnia. She asked me how much and I told her. She proceeded to ask me if I had "mental health issues " and I told her no. I proceeded to EXPLAIN it to her again and I told her that I get offended when asked that question because I made it VERY CLEAR what health issues that I have and what I take for them and why and I NEVER once told this lady that I had any mental issues or took medication for such. I told her that it is offensive to me that she would continue to ask or insinuate that I MUST be taking it for that reason. Mind you this lady JUST met me today.

She continues to explain to me that I am on a higher dose for that medication and that I could be on another medication. I told her that I KNOW what the medication is used for. I've been on it long enough to know. I asked her to STOP asking me about the mental health part due to the medication and she would NOT LISTEN. She took her glasses off and leaned back in her chair and begin to say that I shouldn't be offended by being asked that. I explained to her again that the point is I already told you why I take if before you even asked NOT once but 3 times. I had actually get up and leave. I told her that I refuse to have a doctor to treat me who does not listen and wants to be heard and or right. I wasn't even there regarding my sleep or mental health. She was definitely giving rude and overbearing vibes. She was more interested in telling me about a medication that I take and why I take it which has nothing to to with her. I can understand of she wanted me to know but I made it clear why I was on it and how long and she kept pushing and pushing. She wouldn't let it go so I let her go. Upon my departure from her office, I asked for my paperwork that I filled out and she said it was a referral and that she had to keep it and STILL proceeded to talk to me in the open and in front of her staff. I explained AGAIN that she is rude and doesn't listen. I explained that I am aware that many medications cand be used for multiple reasons. So please don't talk to me like I don't know. I wouldn't send a dog there for treatment. She wouldn't listen I'm sure and that is scary. If she doesn't listen then she darn sure wouldn't treat me properly. I'm highly frustrated. I took off work for NOTHING.
