The staff is attentive and courteous; wait times are minimal. Dr. McCuen performed cataract surgery on both my eyes a week apart in June, 2011. The results were stunning! My vision improved from 8.5 diopters with severe astigmatism to slightly better than 20-20. She helped me understand what would happen pre-op, during, and post-op. She is a very caring and compassionate lady - and I use the word "lady" advisedly.. With my permission, a peer-review group of doctors examined my eyes a month later and told me what I already knew: She did an outstanding job. She is one of my favorite people - for hopefully obvious reasons.

Dr. McCuen prescribed some eye drops the first time I saw her and has had me come in for 4 follow ups in 6 weeks. There would have been a 5th follow up, but I just quit going since it seemed so absurd. Each time she did nothing but take a quick peak at my eyes (2-3 minutes) and schedule another follow up, though my insurance is being charged for a full exam each time. Her tech checks my vision each time, and it has been drastically different every time. I asked her why that was happening, and she said I need a new prescription for my glasses. It changes from week to week, but new glasses are going to solve that? I told her that I wasn't comfortable with that because it didn't make any sense, and her response was very rude. She was running over an hour late that day, so I'm sure it was a bad day for her, but still, that useless 3 minutes cost my insurance over $100, and the appointment required me to take 2 hours off of work. I'm not happy with her.

My wait time was about 3 minutes in the middle of the afternoon. The staff members were nice. I went to see Dr. McCuen after months of visual disturbances. She admitted that she wasn't entirely sure what was causing the keratitis and set up an appointment for me to see a specialist in case what she prescribed didn't work (which does seem to have solved my problem, which makes me very happy since she's the fourth doctor I've seen trying to kick this!) She is very nice, and I trust her. Happy to have found her!
