He was so rude. I mentioned once 10 years ago I had to buy synthroid online when i didn't have medical insurance and he threatened to call the police!!! It was synthroid not heroin!! Such an arrogant rude man . I don't believe any one of these positive reviews. its impossible.

I’m moving and super sad that I have to find a new endocrinologist. Dr. Schmeltz puts you at ease, is thorough, and listens to you.

Dr. Schmeltz is the meanest, most self-centered , egotistical narcissist I’ve ever met. I’m shocked at this mans rude, arrogant, nasty behavior. Talking over me, degrading me, doesn’t listen and continually interrupting. He has made mistakes almost every time I’ve seen him. I was hospitalized 3 times due to his arrogance in not listening to me and prescribing medication that almost killed me. After my last visit, he was so abusive, I was shaking for an hour. Please stay away from him. He is the worst doctor and human being on the planet!

Wow! I've never been to a more obnoxious and rude doctor in my life! He's not even a good Doctor. I'm so angry about how he treated my mother that I can't even continue this review. If you want a horribly poor "doctor" that will make you sick and miserable_ then he's your man

I was told by staff he was the best but that he wasn't very liked for his attitude. I scheduled with him anyway because I needed the best person helping me to manage my conditions. Dr. Schmeltz behaved as a know it all. He really was puffing himself up. I wanted help managing my conditions and not someone to tell me that my previous diagnoses were wrong, order every test under heaven because he doesn't believe the word of other doctors. After all that, the only thing he did was convince himself that I did have the issues for which I made appointment. Duh! He never even followed-up with the results. After weeks, he just put a consult letter in my patient chart that explained my test results. I read it myself and decided I was done with Beaumont doctors.

I asked him ONE QUESTION about something in my blood test I was confused about, and he took that as me "questioning his authority." It wasn't made clear to me when I checked in that he was THE ALL MIGHTY and I dare not speak. He's whiny and sniveling. What a lousy doctor and a lousy human being.

Surprised at the other reviews here because I had a great experience seeing Dr. Schmeltz. Had my thyroid nodule biopsied at the same new patient visit and had my results with 1-2 days. Follow up letter to my doctor was very thorough and he even sent a copy to me.

Shmeltz is shockingly arrogant and absolutely RUDE. It was like he didn't want me to be a returning patient. Didn't even diagnose my condition correctly. I can't believe he has returning patients. I was the only person in the waiting room at 2pm. That should have been a clue.
