I am writing in regards to the bad experience I had at Providence Clinic located at 12618 S. Hawthorne Blvd. in Hawthorne, California. I had an appointment for a follow up visit on February 19, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. On two different days prior to my appointment I received a phone message reminding me of my appointment. Both messages stated my appointment time was 10:45 A.M.
I arrived at the office at approximately 10:40 A.M. I asked the receptionist if my appointment time was 10:45 or 11:00. She told me it was 11:00 but they tell people it’s earlier so they will be there on time. This makes no sense to me and since I am a person who is always early to an appointment that meant more time for me to have to wait to be seen by the doctor.
Once I checked in I was directed to a waiting area where I waited for approximately 25 minutes before being called. Once I was in the treatment room my vitals were taken and I waited an additional 35 minutes before the doctor came in. I told the doctor how dissatisfied I was with the wait. He explained to me that sometimes emergencies come up. I asked was that the case today, because if I had an emergency I would go to an emergency hospital or call 911. He said that they were just busy and the way to avoid that is to have an appointment first thing in the morning or right after lunch. I don’t think a person should be penalized for not having either of those appointment times.
After I finished seeing the doctor I voiced my concerns to a manager named Patty. This was my second visit to this location and my second time having to wait an extended period of time to be seen. My time is as valuable as the employees there and the other patients and I don’t feel it is reasonable to have someone waiting that long.
