I started seeing Dr. Arkin for my hypothyroidism and he seemed great at my first appt but it's been down hill .
I'm on thyroid meds but still having severe symptoms .
I'm told my blood work is 'normal' but I feel awful.
I call and no return call.

Dr. Arkin is excellent. North Atlanta Endocrinology has become too large however and has insufficient staff to support patient needs. This is quite obvious by the extreme difficulty in getting Rx refills and even getting an appointment, both are generally done with voice mails that you might get a return call in a day or two...or not at all! Again though, Dr. Arkin and his PA are great and it's a shame you can't get access to them when you need them.

He placed me in collections when I told him the Veterans Administration (VA) would pay him. He would not wait to be paid and put me in collections. He ruined my credit. The VA paid him and now this is on my credit report. I tried to have it removed but the bureaus would not remove it. He sent it to two other collections and he got paid in full by the VA. I contacted the VA telling them he keep asking me to pay the same bill they paid and they told me not to repay him for this same bill. I never asked for him and he is purely AWFUL. That agency he uses is AWFUL!

He was rude and refused to answer my questions concerning my baby. Although it was a sick visit and not a regular one, as my baby's pediatrician, he is the only person I can ask! He said he does not have time and has other patients waiting. I understand.. I was only expecting him to spend atleast a few minutes to talk about my baby's health issues!!!!!

Every appointment I have had at this office has been a negative experience. Lab appts are fast and easy but my appts to see the dr are always at least an hour in the waiting room and another 20-45 min wait once I'm in the exam room. When I asked, they said the doctor was "running behind". When I asked why the staff couldn't call to alert patients to the delay they said there was no way for them to know before it happened. I find that difficult to believe; when they start having 30+ min wait time there is no reason they couldn't call and alert patients. All this for a 3 min talk with the dr for a simple follow up he could have done over he phone (but then wouldn't be able to bill for of course). If you want a practice where your time is valued and you are seen as more than a number or a dollar sign, choose another option.

My first visit went well, although I had a very long wait. The problem came with my first follow-up visit. I expected, based on my feeling of well-being, that my medication was the right one, but the dose needed to be adjusted upward to the next level. (I have read extensively about hypothyroidism.) I was surprised when he said he wanted to reduce the dosage, based on only the TSH level (the T3 and T4 were barely in the normal range). When I said I was surprised by that, he said he did not know what to do with me and suggested a drug for people with narcolepsy and/or who work night shifts. Jeez. I sleep normally and get plenty of sleep. I left disappointed and confused and set about more research. After learning that this is a common error of endocrinologists, I called to ask a question and make a request. I had to leave a message and never got a call back. Several days later I got a certified letter dismissing me as a patient for noncompliance. Very unprofessional.

Dr. Arkin is very knowledgeable as is his staff. He has helped me as well as others I have referred to him. He also has a pleasant disposition. He is not arrogant like so many doctors are.
