I was seen for a knee injury. After my 3rd visit, I had an MRI. On 4th visit Dr. Salamon stated the MRI showed I did not have a tear of the meniscus or anything else, just some arthritis. He recommended a steroid injection. As he marked & cleaned the injection site, I asked for the site to be numbed. He said that would hurt worse than the injection. I again asked for the site to be numbed & suggested the numbing spray other orthopedic doctors use. He stated that he gives steroid shots all day & they only hurt a little. I asked a third time for the site to be numbed & he stated, "this is how I treat all my patients". I am an RN. I have worked in an ED. NEVER have I heard a Dr. refuse to numb a site especially after a patient request it. In hindsight, I should have refused the treatment & left. At the desk I asked for the MRI report. #1 finding on the MRI report was Lateral Meniscus tear! Was I lied to or is he incompetent? My tip, see a different Dr.

Dr. Salamon performed surgery on my second toe. It was the procedure that was used to alleviate pain in the ball of my right foot. He shortened my second toe and put a bolt in it, as planned. My issue is, upon waking up from surgery, he said, “I removed the nerve next to the toe because it looked weird. Since my surgery, I feel as if my last three toes are tangled up. When I look down, they aren’t. It causes cramping at night. I made multiple follow up appointmen, but canceled each, as I felt he was very dismissive. I have since gone to another for and ankle specialist about other foot issues. I asked him when he performed the surgery I had, did he assign the patient to physical therapy afterwards. He said, yes, if they were motivated enough to go, if they weren’t he provided them with exercises to do at home. Dr. Salamon DID NOT do either of these. Hate that the statue of limitations is only one year in Kentucky. Looks like I will be dealing with his choice, that wasn’t expected for the remainder of my life. FIND ANOTHER FOOT AND ANKLE ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON!

I opinion of Dr. Michael Salamon is not very good. I went to him April 2013 about my feet. I went into the office his staff was very good. The first visit they took x-rays of both my feet. The only months response I got from Dr. Salamon was yes you have to have surgery. So on June 19, 2013 I had my left foot operated on. He kept saying it would take one year for full recovery. Well its been 19 months now I'm seeing another DR. in May to see if it can be fixed. after the surgery I had to ware a soft bandage on my leg then go to a cast for 8 weeks. He put the cast on to tight had to go back for cast adjustments twice. He was not happy at all. Third when the cast came off he put me in a boot on monday and released me to go back to work. You talking about pain I suffered. Bottom line I would think twice before I go to this doctor.

The staff was great and the nurses were even better, but Dr. Salamon might be a good surgeon; however, he has horrible bed side maners with the patients. When I was scheduled for surgery not once did I see him before or after surgery. His nurses were the ones who took care of me when I was in the office...oh wait he did put a bandage on my foot, but other than that that's all he did.
