I saw Dr Liu for many years and trusted his expertise as long as the existing treatment plan that I came into his practice with remained unaltered, until the day I complained of anxiety/low mood due to stressful life events. This resulted in a change of my antidepressant medication, which I had been taking long-term. The medication was changed via direct substitution, a method which I have since learned is considered to be somewhat risky, but I was not informed of any risks. When I had an adverse reaction to the new antidepressant, my concerns were dismissed. When my condition continued to worsen, the antidepressant was switched two more times, still via direct substitution. I began to have very serious physical symptoms, including dysphoria, tachycardia, fever, drenching night sweats, and persistent vomiting. As I had not been warned of any risks, I was unaware that this symptom cluster indicated serotonin syndrome, a potential fatal condition. I mentioned all these symptoms in passing as my health and mental state continued to deteriorate, and Dr Liu did not see fit to intervene, instead choosing to increase my dose of a controlled anxiety medication. When I finally researched my own symptoms and began to suspect that I was suffering from serotonin syndrome, I consulted Dr Liu and my concerns were again dismissed. Shortly after this I became delirious, spiked a 102°+ fever, and discontinued the antidepressant on my own recognizance. My physical symptoms and my mental confusion all began to resolve immediately. I have since changed behavioral health practitioners and my current specialist has confirmed that the symptom cluster that I was experiencing while under the "care" of Dr Liu does in fact indicate moderate/severe serotonin syndrome. I feel that my life was put at risk, my concerns were repeatedly dismissed, and my dramatic mental and physical deterioration was ignored. I have never before felt the need to leave a negative review of any healthcare provider but I feel this man presents a danger to the community.

Many things in the medical industry, I am sure have disturbed many of you as well as me. The high cost of insurance, the inability to get insurance, the high cost of perscribtion drugs, i could go on and on about it. Well none of it has disgusted me like what I have dealt with From the office of Dr Liu Niansen PhD. I was told that there office is taking new patience but that I had to go through a review process to see if they could see me. I needed to fill out a paper and it could take up to a week to find out if they would see me. This paper had 3 sections 1. name, address, phone number, DOB, SS # section 2. insurance information section 3. What do you need to see the doctor for, with approximately four lines. Now what this doctor got out of this tiny bit of information on a person I don't know and what he needed to see to make you qualified to be a patient I don't know either. But this is what I wrote (i dont usually openly tell everybody my diagnoses but her I find it important. I am diagnosed bi polar, PTSD, anxiety disorder, i suffer from panic attacks, insomnia and ADD. I went on to explain how I just moved to Tennessee and have not been able to find a doctor and have been off my medication for three months. I left the office in tears and visually shaken. I was told that if I didn't here anything in a week to call them. Which I did exactly one week later. I was told my name was on the list but there were not any comments next to it. To give it a couple of days. I called back 3 days later and was told the same thing my names on the list but no comments. I then was told how sorry the receptionist was that these was happening could i please give her my info and she would give it to the doctor and would call me monday. I waited the whole next week and heard nothing from her or anyone in the office. Tomorrow it will be two weeks since the day i went into the office to feel this review form out. I was told today that they are very sorry but they will not be able to see me. And the receptions quickly told me she was sorry they give no more information as to why.

Long wait for every appointment as they severely overbook. Then Dr. Liu spends maybe 5 minutes with and seems disinterested in what you are saying to him. Staff is rude and rarely returns calls. I’m not happy with his practice but don’t want to start all over with another doctor.

My experience has been the same like most other patients. I know, the missed appointment policy is to not lose any money that the doctor should've made otherwise, but Dr. Liu's office manager NEEDS to understand this: You are dealing with people who have mental issues, they might or might not be 100% normal as OTHER people. If they were normal, they wouldn't come to Dr. Liu, would they?. Dr Liu has been around for a while, is knowledgeable, respected. Just needs to take charge of his office, and staff though.

Dr. Liu is knowledgeable when it comes to medication management. I found the information he provided easy to follow. His staff is deplorable however. There's a policy pertaining to missed appointments that was not disclosed to me. After missing 3 you are released as a patient. I do not find this unreasonable, however, due to inaccurate records from staffing I was released in error. I had missed one appointment while out of town with car troubles. A second appointment was missed when they failed to provide me with a reminder call because they switched phone systems- it was acknowledged when I called asking about my appointment. There was no third missed appointment. A staff member was argumentative and surprisingly rude when trying to reschedule. I asked that information about appointments be relayed to Dr. Liu. She didn't have my chart to do so. Office talk for lazy. Really should find a job not in customer service, especially dealing with those that have mental health conditions.

His staff is smart mouthed and only concerned with your payment. I was charged a different amount than what insurance said to pay. I was dropped after he gave a refund of the difference.

Dr. Liu has been a great help since I first started seeing him. He is will explain how medications work as well as he will let me know new options. Whenever I have needed to change an appointment date, it is done with ease.
