Biography

Dr.Hembree is interim chair of the Department of Internal and Hospital Medicine(IHM). The department is made up of hospitalists, ambulatory internal medicinedoctors, the specialty of infectious disease as well as advanced practiceprofessionals (APPs). We provide inpatient management of patients, consultativeservice for surgical patients, post-acute hospitalization follow-up,preoperative risk assessment and chronic disease management in the outpatientambulatory medicine clinic. Dr. Hembree has been involved in the design of ourcare delivery models in all these care settings.Healso serves as Vice President, Chief Quality Officer at Moffitt Cancer Center.His responsibilities include oversight of quality department, quality metricsreporting both externally and internally, regulatory readiness, risk managementand infection prevention.Dr.Hembree received his DO degree at Nova Southeastern University College ofOsteopathic Medicine in Davie, Florida, and his PhD degree in Biochemistry atthe University of Texas, Health Science Center, in San Antonio. He completed anInternal Medicine Residency at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dr.Hembree' s research interest is focused on frailty in the hospitalized cancerpatient. Dr. Hembree' s clinical focus is on the care of patients withpreexisting/chronic illness or medical conditions, such as diabetes, COPD, andHTN, that require inpatient hospitalization during their cancer treatment. Healso focuses on acute problems that arise during cancer treatment.
