I just had my gall bladder removed and was nervous more for the after effects of the general anesthetic. The last surgery I had the anesthesiologist in my mind gave me way too much drugs and it took about 3 weeks to get over the effects. Dr. Martinek listened, asked questions and took notes and said he would give me something that he thought would be a little easier on me and whatever he gave me did the job. Day after surgery and I still feel a little woozy but nothing like the last time. Thanks Dr. Martinek. Surgery is hard enough but you made it a little bit easier

Dr. Martinek gave my anesthetic for my hip replacemnt. I told the other anesthesiologist that I only wanted a general anesthetic eventhough he tried to talk me into a spinal. Dr. Martinek listened casrefully and discussed the issue with me after reviewing my other anesthetics and told me that because a breathing tube was difficult to insert on several occasions it really was a better idea to try a spinal anesthetic first. I was petrified, but this doctor made laugh and really feel at ease. He also sounded very experienced and wise. He also joked that he was a very good bartender and that he would make me feel as relaxed as I wanted to be. I remember the spinal going in and it was a lot easier than the last one they tried. The next thing I knew, he was telling me that the I have a new hip! It was my best surgery experience ever! I didn't have a sore throat and no nausea either!

Dr. Martinek was put me out for the removal of Wisdom teeth. His care was excellent. I was nervous being put under due a pre-existing heart condition. Dr Martinek listened to my concerns and assured me that he take care. Should I ever need general anesthetic again I will request him. As other have mentioned his bedside manner is very very good.

I just recently got my upper right wisdom tooth extracted on march 28,2013. Dr. Martinek is very friendly, knowledgeable, excellent bedside manner, and with a sense of humor. I was extremely scared about the extraction but felt no pain or any memory of the extraction while under iv sedation. I recovered quickly with no nausea. If I need any more wisdom teeth out I am requesting this Dr, and I highly recomend him

Hello, my name is Louise Marie and Dr. Martinek was my Anesthesiologist in early september at Brantford General. He is charming, polite and he also has a wonderful bed side manner. If I am ever in need of further surgery, I will request that Dr. Martinek assist my surgeon as the Anesthesiologist. Dr. Martinek administered my epidural after 30 long hours of labor (39 in total) and he was amazing. Dr Martinek was extremely informative, professional and kind. He really took time to ensure I was comfortable before, during and after the procedure and my husband and I are thankful for his professional bedside manner. Thank you for providing pain relief in such a vulnerable state, you are very skilled and we appreciate your approach. Thank you.

Dr. Martinek did my Pre-op and was not supposed to do my surgery, but when the other Doctor was snowed in, he came in to administer my anaesthesia. After the pre op I felt so calm due to his great manner, sense of humour and thorough explanations for all of my questions. He followed up with me in recovery as well. When he showed up on that morning, I was very happy to see him and knew I would be in good hands. BGH day surgery was also awesome.
