Dr. MacEwen has been our family's doctor for 10+ years now. She has always been patient, focused, kind and she listens. She is open to discussing and sharing thoughts, knowledge and includes you, giving you a sense of some control in your health and decisions. I greatly appreciate that approach. She explains the reasons for her choices and always welcomes you to ask questions, making sure you understand. I feel safe and comfortable in her skills and ability to support the best health plan for me and my family members.

Dr. Melissa has been our family doctor for a number of years and looked after our health with a genuine heart. Navigated my husband through a cancer diagnosis and multiple health problems he is suffering from. She truly cares for her patients.

Dr. MacEwen was a nice person. But really dropped the ball on a lot of things. I was with her from when she first opened her practice to about 4-5 years ago when I decided to leave her in search of a better doctor. Things she decided not to diagnose/ignore/missed.
I saw her repeatedly for extreme back pain (throwing up from it) and she gave me the run around wouldn't send me for even an x-ray. The person a year later filling in for her during maternity leave sent me for an MRI finally. Bulging disc in my back.
She told me I needed to do more squats when my knee swelled to 3x the size of the other one and was painful. And that it was normal for a woman my age to have this (I was 26) And washed her hands of it. Then the ball of my right foot swelled and was hot and painful. She sent me for blood work to see my inflammation markers. And told me nothing was wrong. Washed her hands of it. I asked my new doctor and rheumatologist who discovered my inflammation to be off the charts if it could have developed over 3 months, and they both said no, I had years worth of damage and had Rheumatoid arthritis. (3 months is what it took me to switch and get into a specialist after leaving Dr. MacEwen).
She sent me for basic tests that were not conclusive testing for celiac. I have since discovered I am celiac.
And many more issues.
She was great with babies and new mothers from what I understand. But she really dropped the ball for me.
Like I said. Nice person, wasn't a great doctor.

Best doctor I could imagine having. She's been my doctor for a long time and I've always had a good experience. She definitely puts the patient first.

I've always felt like I have the best of care with Dr. Melissa--she's very informed, she takes an approach that puts the patient first, and she is always ready to recommend options that are helpful and supportive. I happily recommend her to anyone because of the high quality of her skill and care.

Dr MacEwen herself is awesome. Sometimes I have felt the appointments are rushed, but overall I usually leave feeling heard and satisfied with what she's told me. The reception staff is terrible though and I often feel annoyed anytime I need to call there.

We were assigned Dr. MacEwan as our new family Physician for my husband, our new baby and myself. We are very pleased to have met her. She was friendly and took the time to answer our questions. Yes she is young, however she is knowledgeable. We look forward to having her as our new physician!

Dr.MacEwen has been my parents doctor for some years now and I would highly recommend her. She is very caring and thorough. She is really missed during her maternity leaves!
