Wow! I know this statement to be slander. Granted everyone has their right to their own opinion. However, my children first encountered this Professional early in their life under the guidance of his mentor whom at that time was a well respected chief of staff at children's before his retirement in 2003. That same doctor saved my children's life as 29 week preemies with a diagnosis of NEC which I was advised is the worst condition a premier could have because they usually would die. This man that you say disregards babies not only took over my twins care after the chief surgeon retired and worked with a staff of present and currently chiefs of staff, was also indeed an active advocate of my very small children and one of them who didn't actually grow until two major life saving surgeries with no hope but a prose in his own spirit that maybe they could feed her and she would survive because she and her sister were NICU patients for a year plus combined. I found it quite fascinating since we were black and however you have a teen daughter. Do you even understand the dynamics of a NICU patient that has been in the hospital for longer than a month and their survival rate? Because if you do than your comment in regards to the other doctors in his practice being cool more so than him sounds quite foolish indeed. I say this because my daughter was not only his care for five years but every surgeon whom was on call when HE needed to rest. So honestly, I don't know maybe he just discriminated against you and your grandson and your teen daughter. Or maybe it's just your guilt and hidden shame about your teen daughter and your grandson, or maybe you need to check his track record but be careful when you do because you just might find that your the only one on that ship. Good news is HE is your life jacket.

Wow, with that last comment. Especially when this man was mentored by the chief of staff whom also was the first surgeon to save my twin 29 weekers preemies that had a diagnosis of NEC and spent a combined time in the NICU of a year plus, worked with the best staff at Akron Surgical Pediatrics, was my surgeon for aprx. five years, and saved her life numerous times amongst being an active advocate on her life where it concerned her care. The sad part is that you say it is because she was a teen mom, and my child is BLACK! Your right it must be or gotta be discrimination or else your not the most truthful individual! Either way, God bless.

He has no beside manner and shows little emotions toward babies. He left us waiting for hours in the hospital with no answers. Then when the test results for my grandson came back and my daughter didn't understand what the dr. was telling her and he was asked to explain Dr. McCollum called her dysfunctional. We feel he did this because she is a teen mom. The dr's. in the same practice as him, offered to care for my grandson at that time. Many of the nurses and other physicians did not speak highly of him.
