These comments were accurate based on my I guess similar experience with him: "Steingart was arrogant, dismissive, and belittling numerous times throughout my two hour consultation. I do not recommend Dr. Steingart. His lack of professionalism should be reported to his college if it has happened already" "Very sarcastic and rude - doesn't really try to help patients. No compassion or empathy whatsoever." "Don't waste your time, does not listen and never puts patients first. Jugdemental and sarcastic -exactly what you don't need in a psychiatrist!" I would add opposite of insightful. Some of the things he said were just wrong. Plus he made terrible recommendations to my doctor, so that's fun dealing with now. Don't feel belittled just because he has a degree and is the fancy "founder" of some crappy program that doesn't help anyone but their wallets. Stick up for yourself, get a different psychiatrist.

I work as the head counsellor for students at the Michener Institute where many of my students have met with Dr. Steingart. I have been very impressed with Allan's down-to-earth approach, his obvious care for his clients, his ability to bridge between psychotherapy and psychiatry and his accurate and helpful assessments. Thanks a lot for your help over the years! Degan

Dr. Steingart and his business Psychotherapy Matters is brutally run. There is no documentation available after consultations and no follow through with medications. Additionally, Dr. Steingart was arrogant, dismissive, and belittling numerous times throughout my two hour consultation. I do not recommend Dr. Steingart. His lack of professionalism should be reported to his college if it has happened already.

Dr. Steingart listens, really listens, and conveys concern to his patients. He is respectful of patients' concerns and feelings. Dr. Steingart is open to and encourages communication with other physicians and therapists if necessary. He is warm and empathic and has a manner that makes it easy for patients to feel comfortable confiding in him. It's a pleasure to work alongside him.

After taking several different medications for my depression and anxiety, Dr. Steingart was able to prescribe me with a medication which helped me feel much better in a matter of weeks. He is very smart and knowledgeable and an excellent doctor!
