It's too bad all doctors can't be as perfect as she is! What a wonderful medical world it would be if they were!

Oregon Clinic scheduled my appointment during a period of time when Dr.Hayman was expected to be doing rounds which led to ny appointment beginning 35 mins late - Dr.Hayman was defensive and rude when I addressed it with her and exacerbated my discomfort due to the vulnerable nature of my appointment. Often, we forget that healthcare isn't a service, its a business. Treat it like one - I'm not only your patient, but a paying customer.

Dr. Hayman has helped me restore a quality of life I have not seen in years. While my condition is life long, Dr. Hayman has given me what I need to live my life to the fullest. Her assistant Julie is wonderful and extraordinarily, compassionate.

During her final year, she served as administrative chief resident. She then underwent fellowship training in colon and rectal surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota prior to happily moving back to Portland to take her current position at the Oregon Clinic. She always strives to provide compassionate care, resulting in awards from the Mayo Clinic and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Lastly, she has presented results from a variety of colon and rectal research projects at both local and national surgical conferences, receiving multiple “Best Presentation” awards. "Patients place an incredible amount of faith and trust in their surgeon. As colorectal surgeons, we must be technically excellent, but also empathetic and patient. We must be able to treat all aspects of the patient, not just their acute gastrointestinal problem. In the words of Dr. William J. Mayo, “The best interest of the patient is the only interest to be considered”." - Amanda Verienna Hayman, MD, MPH
