Dr. Finnessy was one of a limited number of dentists covered by my previous dental insurance, so I tried her out. . I went in for a cleaning and exam, which felt like it went very well- her staff is very friendly and attentive (the reception team is fantastic). She let me know that I had two sets of fillings I would need- one small set on my upper right side between the teeth, and another small set between the teeth on my lower right side.
When I came in for my fillings the experience felt very rushed right from the start. I have nothing against being in and out of a dentist, but it felt a bit more rushed than I was comfortable with. Once I was anesthetized, she began working very quickly and very roughly; seeming impatient at times when I needed a little jaw rest. We had scheduled my time to get both sets of fillings taken care of at once, but since my body metabolizes anesthesia quickly, she decided not to do my bottom fillings (without letting me know this until she was done with the top).
My top fillings done by Dr. Finnessy have been sore for two months, and I was initially unable to get floss between the teeth. I called her office to let them know, and went in for a follow-up appointment. She adjusted my bite a bit more, saying the pain was due to it being off, and smoothed out between the teeth a bit. She was very, very impatient with me during this follow-up visit- first not believing that I was unable to floss, then taking another x-ray to show me that she had done nothing wrong. I left that appointment feeling like I'd just been told I was being over dramatic and to walk it off.
The next day, I was better able to floss through the teeth, but am still unable to get through all the way. I am still VERY sore most of the time, cannot chew primarily on that side (previously my dominant side), and have developed in those teeth a severe temperature sensitivity. I was left feeling so bad after my follow-up visit at this office that I have made an appointment with a friend's dentist to repair the fillings and hopefully get a pain-free mouth again.
I definitely would not recommend Dr. Finnessy's office. A friendly staff can only get you so far, unfortunately.
