I've been seeing Dr. Newman for 30 years and have now stopped going. My entire family has seen him. Although he is a decent doctor, I once thought he was great. I've been given wrong medication which caused irreversible damage, he was away when the worst of the symptoms started and NO ONE in this office would help me and his colleagues would not help me at all. His office staff is the absolute worst. They don't answer the phone and when they do "by mistake" they hang up. It takes me days to get through to that office and if the Dr. isn't in, they won't take a message and if it is after hours the covering Dr. won't help you if you are not his patient. He seems to be away or off quite a bit, so it is difficult to get a hold of him to ask questions. Who ever heard of not being able to leave a message for a doctor. I have been stuck on their voicemail system numerous times for over an hour and then hung up on if the time approaches their lunch hour (where they do not answer the phone, nor allow messages to be taken by voice mail) or if it is approaching 4pm when they stop answering phones all together. It was impossible for me to get test results sent to a new doctor that I was seeing, I was told they don't keep films or cds so I had to have new tests taken by a more responsible facility after fighting with my insurance company to cover the new tests. This place was good/great at one time, the other doctors in the practice are just down right rude and uncaring. Stay away, there are plenty of good neurologists on Long Island, you don't need to be treated this way.
