Biography

Biographical summary The research interests of Sadia Shah, M.D., are in Interstitial Lung Disease, Lung Transplant and Larynx-Trachea Transplant. She is a member of International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation and American Transplant Congress. She is part of Mayo Clinic Transplant Convergence Group which collaborates between Mayo Clinic Arizona, Minnesota and Florida Transplant Division to ensure that all sites provide the latest and best care to lung transplant patients that the world has to offer. Dr. Shah is currently the Interim Medical Director for Lung Transplant Program at Mayo Clinic Arizona and has been involved with re-launching of the program. She is also the Medical Director for Larynx-Trachea Transplant Program at Mayo Clinic, Arizona. Focus areas Lung Transplant: Specific areas of interest include Lung Transplant acute cellular rejection, Antibody mediated rejection, Bronchiolitis Obliterans, Lung Transplant infection. Dr. Shah collaborates with Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery for management of Lung Transplant patients. Larynx-Trachea Transplant: Dr. Shah is interested in Vascularized Composite Allo-transplantation and has been collaborating with Division of Ear, Nose and Throat to start the first Larynx-Trachea Transplant Program in Mayo Clinic, Arizona. Interstitial Lung Disease: Dr. Shah is interested in Pulmonary Fibrosis, Interstitial Lung Disease secondary to connective tissue disease and Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis. She believes in team approach for management of these critically sick patients and collaborates with Division of Rheumatology, Interventional Pulmonary and Cardiothoracic Surgery to provide them the optimal care. Significance to patient care Dr. Shah's research focuses on improving the Clinical Outcomes of Lung Transplant patients and is the member of Transplant Quality Committee at Mayo Clinic, Arizona.
