Biography

A native of Southern California, Dr. Cologne completed his general surgery training in Chicago at Rush University and Cook County Medical Centers where he received numerous awards including Chief Resident of the Year and Chief Administrative Resident by a vote of his peers. He excelled in laparoscopy and has a certification in the fundamentals of laparoscopic surgery. He developed an interest in colorectal surgery and went on to complete additional training. He is double board certified in general and colorectal surgery, and specializes in laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures for a variety of diseases including colon and rectal cancer, polyps, and the treatment and management of anorectal disorders. He has performed over 600 colorectal procedures and is one of the nation’s leading experts in the field of laparoscopic surgery - having written several textbook chapters on the subject. He also teaches courses on minimally invasive colorectal surgery and has won teaching awards.
