In 2017 I had been suffering for months with pain and not even able to eat. I saw many doctors for diagnosis with out any success dealing with the underlying problem. Finally I was seeing Dr. Goldstein for an unrelated urology issue and asked him could he schedule a ct scan of the abdomen for me before I was to return for a follow up. He did and passed it on to Dr. Dirocco who actually met me at Dr, Goldstein,s office for a consultation without AN APPOINTMENT LATE ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON! He saw me the following Monday in his office and outlined a plan for surgery for a perforated colon. This 2 weeks before Thanksgiving and hospital surgery scheduler offered a January surgery date. I told her T wouldn't make it to January and after checking with Dr, Dirocco, he agreed to operate the day after Thanksgiving which was a scheduled day off for him!! I will never be able to express my gratitude to him for that, as my condition was much worse than anticipated and the surgery lasted FIVE HOURS, considerably longer than anticipated .He saved my life, period. I obviously cannot understand any negativity towards this doctor or his practice. He is the best, and a total credit to his profession.

I never got a chance to even meet Dr. DiRocco because his office staff was so unbelievably rude and abusive on the phone, when I was simply trying to find out information and make an appointment. I spoke to two receptionists, and both of them were irritated by the most basic questions about the doctor's locations, availability, and hospital privileges. The first one (Shayla) gave me information that later turned out to be completely false, saying that he does not do any procedures at GBMC, and that I would have to travel far to his Bel Air office for any procedures beyond an exam. Even though he is listed as the medical director of GI Oncology at GBMC on their website, she kept insisting he had no affiliation with GBMC. She said that it was a private practice that just had an office on the GBMC campus.

She said there were no appointments available until the end of January, and when I said I didn't know if I could wait that long to address my painful medical issues, she told me his medical secretary would call me soon to help me schedule an appointment. No call came that day or the next day, so I called again to remind them. When I called again on the third day, his medical assistant answered the phone (I think this was the person who was supposed to call me back in the first place), and to my shock, she was even ruder than the first person! She told me everything the opposite of what I had been told before, saying that he *does* do all kinds of procedures at GBMC, which I was relieved to hear. And yet all of my attempts to communicate with her were met with unbelievable hostility and stonewalling—I literally could not comprehend where it was coming from, when I was simply trying to find out information in a friendly, respectful manner.

Finally, I said I would like to schedule an appointment, and it turned out that he had a full day of available appointments on Jan. 3rd, not the end of January like I had been told before. Then suddenly, as I was trying to decide which time slot to take on that day, she said, “Are you trying to make an appointment?” (I don't know why she asked this, since we were clearly already doing that.) I said, “Yes, why?” and then after a long pause, she said, “I will have to speak to Dr. DiRocco about whether we can take you on as a patient because you are being so rude to me, and so you can just be on your way then” and hung up on me! And she was calling *me* rude! It was truly mind-boggling. I couldn't even conceive that a phone conversation lasting less than five minutes could go so wrong so quickly, for no reason at all.

I have never before experienced such unprofessional behavior from any medical office. Most of the people who call these offices are already in physical pain or distress of some kind, as I am, and to be treated this horrendously before even getting to see the doctor is shocking. It astounds me that someone like Dr. DiRocco, who has so many overwhelmingly positive reviews on these websites, could have office staff this rude and aggressive. But if these are the people that he hires as his office staff and assistants, then I certainly have no faith in his judgment as a person or a doctor. I will gladly go much farther out of my way to seek treatment from someone who treats patients (and prospective patients) with compassion and respect.

Dr Dirocco allowed me to share a lot of my medical history, did not rush me through our visit. I felt listened to which is of utmost importance to me as a patient. He also respected my proactive & holistic approach to my health. He was incredibly respectful and gentle during his exam, and I am grateful to be scheduled for a colonoscopy feeling confident in his and his staff's care for me while I'll be under anesthesia. For dealing with delicate issues, Dr Dirocco was incredibly approachable, kind, and respectful.

Spoke to staff on Dec 23rd and they made sure to ask doctor if he did umbilical hernias while I was on the phone and he said YES. TODAY, Jan 17th was my scheduled appt and I receive a call from the staff saying the doctor CANCELLED my appt because he does not do umbilical hernias!? Truth is I just completed my patient information on their website late last night and when he read it this morning decided that he would discriminate and not see me now!!! No coincidence!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! VERY SAD part is that on patient information I marked down rectal bleeding, pain, and high risk for colon cancer because half of my family has died from it. I listed each family member, cancer deceased from ( mostly colon) and he turned me away!!! I listed that I have endometriosis and I know that's why he turned me away because it would be more work cutting through and around the endo. Just be HONEST that you can't do it or don't want to be bothered by a case that isn't just an easy payday for you "doctor". The staff was extremely nice and helpful. I feel sorry for them that they have to work for a LIAR and selfish snake! GOD have mercy on his soul.

Dr. Dirocco treated our 87 year old mother and we could not have been more blessed to have gotten him. My mother suffered an entire summer with severe stomach pain and major diarrhea. After a visit to the emergency room she was admitted and seen by Dr. Dirocco.
After meeting Dr. Dirocco, we knew instantly that he was special. Dr. Dirocco listened to all that Mom had been through, answered all of our questions, and explained the treatment going forward. Mom did eventually end up needing surgery but with Dr. Dirocco charting the course we just knew the end result would be wonderful...and it was! With Dr. Dirocco, you could not be in better hands. Thanks Dr. Dirocco for what you do and for the way you treat your patients!

Dr. Diricco is hands down the best doctor I have worked with. I had been dealing with severe ulcerative colitis for a little over a year and realized surgery was my only option. My GI doctor had recommended me to him and I couldn't have been happier. He is very understanding and made me feel comfortable and calm about the procedures I needed to have done. He was always willing to talk to me or see me whenever I had a concern and knew what to do. I felt so comfortable putting my problem in his hands. He is easy to talk to and just an all around great person, I would strongly recommend Dr. DiRocco to anyone!!!

Di Dirocco is the best. I had seen two other GI docs before seeing him. He has been so helpful. I felt better after seeing him immediately. He was able to prescribe me the correct medication and has been helping me on my road to recovery. I know that I most likely will need some surgical intervention in the future for my issue and I trust Dr. Dirocco 150%. Great guy.
