My experience with Dr Shah and his staff was fantastic. From my first visit, surgery, recovery, rehab and discharge I could not have asked for a better experience. His RN Brandon and his PA Katherine were just as fantastic. Any questions or concerns where taken care of immediately. From knee surgery to back to work in 6 weeks. If I rate my whole experience 0-10, I would say 11.

I'm a 57 year old male, who had my hip replaced in December of 2018.

After injuring my hip at work, my family doctor prescribed medication and physical therapy. Months of treatment did nothing to improve my relief from the pain, even getting to the point I could hardly walk. Because I worked for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), I knew how important it was to find good orthopaedic surgeon, so I started my investigation.

I found Dr. Ritesh Shah, an AAOS, Board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at IBJI (by the way, this facility had great reviews) and set up an appointment in October of 2018. Immediately, I was treated with genuine compassion, interest and sincerity, which made me feel very comfortable, understood and relaxed.

Dr. Shah found that I had serious evidence of arthritis and a labrum tear in the hip, where the ball joint of my hip was getting flat, due to the lack of bloodflow in that area. He informed me that I needed to have a same-day procedure of a total right hip replacement, which could be done at the IBJI Surgery Center, as an out-patient. At first, I thought it was nuts to have a total hip replacement and go home the same day, but he thoroughly explained the entire procedure and answered all my questions, without rushing me in order to get to his next appointment.

I have to say Dr. Shah is an amazing doctor and surgeon. His surgical procedure consisted of moving the muscles instead of cutting through them to get to the hip, making for a much speedier and easier recovery. Within 90 minutes of the surgery, I was walking (using a walker) and was able to even climb stairs. As promised, I was able to return home later that same day, with a prescription for pain meds to take as prescribed.

His staff set up home care nursing and physical therapy, which started the next day. Within a couple of days, I no longer needed the pain meds. Within a week, I was able to stop using the walker. Within the next 2-3 weeks, I was walking without any pain and no longer needed to use a cane.

Completing my recovery at home was so much better than being in the hospital for a couple of days. I had less of a chance in catching any airborne illness, I could appreciate the cost-savings of same-day surgery and my recovery at home allowed me to recover with my family in familiar surroundings.

I cannot thank Dr. Shah enough. His friendly and very accommodating staff made my wife and me feel very much at ease. I was back at work 6 weeks from my surgery date, even using public transportation for my commute. I would highly recommend him and his outpatient surgical facility, to anyone who is having hip or knee problems.

I had my right knee replaced in 2014 and my left knee on July 25th, 2018. I have complete confidence in Dr. Shah. He takes the time to explain your procedure and answers ALL your questions and concerns. I highly recommend Dr. Shah. Both procedures went as planned and I have better quality of life.

Amazing surgeon. Hip arthroscopy and labrum repair after a marathon injury. Running marathons again. Couldn’t be happier. He does the most in the north shore of Chicago and has fixed athletes and lots of physical therapists.

Great experience, refereed by business owner in Northbrook. I had totsl left hio surgery Feb 13 2018. I am almost four weeks walking, 2-3 rehab therapy a week with minimal pain. I am very grateful to doctor Shah and staff. Hope to be jogging soon.....

I had a minimally invasive total right hip replacement out patient surgery at LGH on Jan2, 2018. The surgery was a total success and the recovery has been extremely easy. Dr. Shah and his staff performed a total hip replacement for me about three weeks ago. Dr. Shah is very knowledgeable, patient, caring and an excellent surgeon. I was involved in a motorcycle accident about eight years ago and I have been in constant pain since. Even though it’s only been three weeks I feel great. I highly recommend Dr. Shah. I spoke with several physical therapist friends and they said that if they needed a new hip, they would have Dr. Shah perform the surgery. You will not be disappointed. Also, the staff at LGH was amazing.

I had a knee replacement. At 6 months post surgery, I am pain free and walking, doing stairs and fully back to life. I was treated with respect, patience and given all the information that I needed to anticipate my getting ready for this surgery, having the surgery and recovering from the surgery. They could not have been nicer. My phone calls were ALWAYS returned promptly by his staff. I will eventually need my other knee done and I will definitely be working with Dr. Shah for it!

Dr Shah completed my total knee replacement in June of 2017. From the initial consultation through my post op follow up he was patient, answered all my questions and provided me with very good advice. My out patient and surgery was very successful not only because of his expertise, but I also attribute it to the strong team he has assembled at IBJI. I would highly recommend Dr.Shah if you are in need of an orthopedic surgeon.
