I do not smoke nor drink and have always had a pretty active and healthy lifestyle, a busy mum of two teenage kids and without any pre-existing health conditions.
But that all changed on the 21st October 2021 after developing Myocarditis.

During my time in hospital I was seen by about 7 different Heart Specialist, all trying to do their best for me via the administration of different medication. It was unchartered territory for them but debilitating and depressing for me as I have never been so sick in my life. I was scared, petrified and unsure as to what was going to happen or whether I was ever going to get over this.

I was then referred to Dr Gunasekara by my General Practitioner. At that stage I was unable to breathe due to a crushing pain in my chest coupled with an abnormal heart rate, profuse sweating and an inability to take more than 5 steps without the assistance of others.

Today, I can attest that I am living, breathing and walking thanks to this Amazing Doctor and his team at the Sydney Cardiovascular Centre.

I don’t think I would be here today if it wasn’t for the careful guidance and care given by Dr. Gunasekara. He is professional, competent, extremely knowledgeable and humble. I cannot thank him enough for the progress that he has made with me.
From my children, brothers, sisters, relatives and friends; Thank you Dr Gunasekara for treating me and giving me back my life.
