I have been working with this doctor for 2 years now. I feel he has always been my advocate even though my insurance has denied my pain injections and physical therapy. Dr Chiou is willing to put in the time to write additional letters to my insurance company and explained very clearly how I can get involved to appeal denials. Its been a tough road but I am glad I have Dr Chiou on my side.

I had a spinal fusion of my L5-S1 nearly three years ago, andI was referred to Dr. Chiou by my orthopedic surgeon for pain management. The office staff is friendly and efficient, and they are most gracious in accommodating my schedule by making changes in my appointment times and dates. Additionally, the waiting room never looks over-booked; therefore, I have never had to wait more than ten minutes. Often times, I arrive earlier than scheduled because I work nearby, and I am seen by Dr. Chiou earlier than scheduled The office staff calls one day in advance of my scheduled appointments to remind me that I have an appointment for the following day. Dr. Chiou listens to me, he is very knowledgeable,and he provides many options of treatment for my pain, from physical therapy to sympathetic nerve blocks. He does not over-sell any option and he explains the potential advantages and risks. The Pain Medicine of Long Beach team has enabled me to return to the active life I love.

I have had neck, back, shoulders and arms pain for years. My spine surgeon suggested that I saw Dr. Chiou for pain management two years ago. Dr. Chiou has been very compassionate and patient with me. He actually listens to my complaints and even returns my phone calls. I trust Dr. Chiou's advice and would recommend him to any one who needs help in pain management.

Dr. Chiou is a young but extremely knowledgeable, skillful and helpful physician. I came to Dr. Chiou for a second opinion and I am very, very glad that I did! The simple injection treatments that I have received have eliminated my problem by 90%. I hope that I had gone to him in the first place. Whoever is treating you for painful condition, I suggest that you get a second opinion by Dr. Chiou and let him take care of you. You will not be disappointed.

I disagree with the previous reviews and have to chime in. Dr Chiou is a very caring doctor who has treated me with respect and always listens to my concerns. He is very clear with his explanation. I never waited very long to see him, much better than my previous pain doctor. I have had a great experience with Dr Chiou and he has managed my pain well!

Office treated me like a second class citizen. Dr. Chiou needs a course on how to treat patients. He was cold and unforgiving to me, I gave him and his staff 7 months to get it right. I am still in pain and now need to go to another pain management doctor and restart a program. Please read this review and choose another doctor. Please do not use
