Terrible experience with him. He made an 8-inch incision on my belly, despite my baby was in a head-down position and only weighing 7 pounds. I'm not even obese. He was sometimes very rude and lack of concern for his patients. His rude manner and the long surgical incision made me feel very stressed and depressed. Please just avoiding him if you can find other OBGYN.

I have been seeing Dr. Hsu since I was 15. He delivered my baby in 2019. He was informative and considerate, and my delivery was very smooth.

Dr. Hsu delivered all of my 3 children. My second pregnancy were with my twins, and I was high risk given early complications. Dr. Hsu took a cautious approach to ensure my babies reached full term, which they did. I was pleased with the care he provided during both pregnancies and would recommend him to anyone.

My birth definitely did not go as planned. I didn’t know if I wanted to share it because I’m disappointed that we made the wrong decision to go with our OB. I am sharing my story because I would like to prevent other soon to be moms from making the same decisions that I did.

Despite our Ob not wanting to see our birth plan, we brought it anyways and the nurses asked right away for it. They put it on our chart. I was 2-3 centimeters when we arrived. Dr. Hsu showed up an hour later (20 hours into labor) to let us know that if we wanted an all-natural birth that we should go home and have our doula deliver our baby. That he would also go home and not deliver our baby (exact words from his mouth). He would not deliver our baby unless we went along with his decision’s, he made that very clear in a very rude manner.

At this point, my partner had to take Dr. Hsu out of the room to calm him down (very unprofessional). Our doula was obviously upset and made it clear. Then had to take the doula out of the room to calm her down because she had never seen a doctor be so rude to a patient. We had our Doula and our OB arguing in the delivery room. I was exhausted at this point because this was not how I planned it.

We were told by our OB that we had
1. Get induced even though I was 2-3 centimeters because we had a scheduled induction that same night. (Thankfully when he checked me I was 5 centimeters so we fought being induced and didn’t have to be).
2. To get narcotics or an epidural
3. To get an episiotomy
4. To have 24/7 monitoring even though the baby and I were healthy.
5. To have antibiotics because I had a slight fever before pushing.
6. To have the vacuum used (I would not let this happen).

I’m thankful that he was able to deliver a healthy baby but a very upsetting and frustrating labor. Our OB also let us know after our baby was born, that we should not breastfeed. He told us a story about an Indian couple that breastfed their baby and that baby died because she/he was not getting enough to eat. He wanted us to supplement with formula, just because.

We were told that he is as natural as can be, but when it came down to delivering the baby, it was the total opposite.

Does not give you time in your appointments to fully explain his reasons behind things or questions that you may have.

Dr. Hsu delivered my third child. I wish I had gone to him for my first two deliveries. I couldn't be happier with his bedside manner, his skill, and his willingness to talk to his patients openly and honestly about their concerns. He is a kind man, who is good at what he does and will show you respect and compassion. I got a c-section for my third delivery, and I never had any complications from it and was able to get up and walk, albeit hunched over, a few hours after my c-section. Interestingly, the only reason I started going to Dr. Hsu was because an OB I had researched to be my OB for my third child told me during my first month of pregnancy that she had decided to take time off from her practice to tend to family matters. That OB then pointed me to Dr. Hsu, telling me that she had trained under him and that I would not be disappointed. She was right.

Dr. Hsu's staff is efficient and nice to talk to. I never had any problem scheduling an appointment or getting a message to the doctor. Although I will admit that I was always dead-set against going to a male OB/GYN, I am sticking with Dr. Hsu because of how great he was during my pregnancy.

I really trust Dr. Hsu. My firstborn was delivered by Summit Medical Group at Overlook Hospital. I had the most horrible birth experience ever. Let's just say that I had a hard time bonding with my firstborn because of how rushed the situation was (and an unneeded episiotomy). Talk about painful.

Fast forward 3 years later. I had initially only wanted a female OB-- that was a disaster so I gave up on that requirement. I just wanted someone whom I could trust.... and I trust Dr Hsu completely. He is on the cautious side, but you don't want a cowboy for pregnancy where anything could go wrong, right? My second born is now almost two years old. I'm grateful for him, and for Dr. Hsu, in making sure everything went well. I was almost 42 when my second was born... I am not exactly low risk. Thank you Dr. Hsu for doing a great job!

Please do NOT go to him. He does not care about you. He wants to get you over with as fast as he can. And he does not recommend any anesthesia because that would slow down your labor and delivery so he has to be there longer.

I'm not sure why people would leave good review for him. but both mine and a couple of my friends experiences with his was horrible. Maybe he used to be good, but sadly he is NOT any more...

He cares about his convenience more than your health. He would push you to not have an epidural because that would slow down the labor and he has to stay for longer.
he keeps saying so and so did not have an epidural and that made her labor very fast... If you decide to have an epidural, he will be very judgmental.

He is also judgmental about complaining too much pain or too much vomiting in the first trimester. He does not care how you feel. He also says all women experience nausea in the first trimester, just deal with it!

He will never discuss a birth plan with you. He never tells you what is going to happen. So if you are a first time mother, that would be the worst thing ever.

Also, all of us was given an episiotomy (a cut) during labor, although none of our babies was more than 7.5 lb. He just wants the labor to go faster so he can go home. Unnecessary episiotomy will let the delivery go faster, but it takes much longer for us to recover.

He also does unnecessary tests that is not covered by the insurance. Two of us got huge bills after our delivery... And his receptionist is not willing to discuss any billing matter with you. You just have to pay for it.

I would advise all women to avoid him, especially if this is your first pregnancy. He will make it even more stressful that it already it. Just avoid him!
