Emergency surgery, Trimalleolar compound fracture. Worst experience of my life with someone in the medical field. Dr. Hopson and his nurse were the nastiest 2 human beings I have every met. Bones not set correctly and will probably have to have 2 more surgeries because of this man. Caused so much pain but did not believe anything I told him about the pain I was having. His best line was “if I didn’t want to be in pain, don’t fall down” Rude, callous and anyone thinking of going to his practice fair warning.

Dr. Hopson is wonderful, so very thankful I found him! He was recommended to me from a neighbor who is also a surgeon at Sentara. Dr Hopson was able to help with a right foot injury I have had for many years from an accident. I am grateful for my friends referral and Dr. Hopson’s great knowledge and care. Finally pain free and able to get back to the activities I love.

ZERO bedsides manners, untrained staff. the nurse removed the guard on the suture scissors with her teeth, Rx wasn't ordered pre-op, was left on hold until the office closed and the phones were rolled and never answered, the scooter was not received until 4 days after surgery and was filthy and rusted when it arrived, but my insurance was billed for a new one, Dr. never explained anything was very arrogant and rude...DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR...He's not a real MD, didn't fellowship and is listed as a DPM. If this doctor is a reflection of the practice, he is a very poor representative and I would not recommend the practice.

Doctor did not review MRI images or x-ray, no small talk, clumsy introduction, did not provide a detailed examination or ask questions about previous treatments, recommended two options, including surgery within 5 minutes. I declined surgery and the other option which is not covered by insurance, platelet injections, is considered experimental. He doesn't administer them, but said he didn't know of anyone that did not get better with them. Then why suggest surgery?

I had emergency surgery with Dr. Hopson in March 2016. Terrible experience. Cocky and seemingly uncaring. I thought it might have just been me, but after reading these reviews I see it was not. It was my 6th ankle surgery in my life. I told him numerous times something was not "right" and he dismissed me every time. In reality I was "right" and the break NEVER healed. In fact I have "loose hardware" just hanging out in my ankle now. I am now going into surgery next week to get a total reconstruction since the issues he left me with have made me so much worse. I am praying we can fix what he messed up but its going to be a looooong haul. Stay away from this guy.

Worst experience I've ever had with a doctor. I'm currently seeing another doctor to fix problems made by this doctor. After all my appointments with him he would only spend maybe 5 minutes with me, on average, each visit. He did not explain things well and he really didn't seem to care. I was rushed into surgery by him and am now having more pain and problems after the surgery than before the surgery (I'm seeing an orthopedic surgeon to hopefully fix the problems). PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE avoid seeing this doctor! There are plenty other doctors in the area who will take the time to listen to what you're saying and actually evaluate your case instead of rushing into things, messing things up more, and not spending any time with you.

I've been seeing Dr. Hopson since February 2015 for a problem that originally started way back in June 2014. It' s true that he rushed me through in my first few visits and I left feeling a little dissatisfied, but at subsequent visits, I made sure to have all my questions ready and I didn't let him leave until I felt comfortable with the answers I got. While he didn't explain the details of a planned surgery initially, when I asked for specifics, he was happy to take the time to explain everything to me.

Not enough time is spent with patient to appropriately treat a problem or explain treatment or prevention of future problems.

Really dismal experience overall. This practice was recommended by a friend but our initial visit convinced me to find an alternative before moving forward with any treatment. The staff I met were snotty, arrogant and uncaring - not a good combination in the healthcare field. Made me thankful for all the wonderful doctors out there and made me determined to find someone better to help my foot.
