PATIENT"S BEWARE! (Absolutely true story by a new patient)

Dr. Daniel Cartledge is the worst doctor I have ever experienced IN MY WHOLE LIFE to the point that I have to write this review. If I could give him no stars I would.

I went to him for pain on 2/7/19 and the visit with him was very good. He seemed attentive & caring. He decided to put me on Lyrica to try to see if that would resolve my pain. I left there feeling that I have a good doctor. I went to the drug store to fill the prescription for it & found it would be close to $500 for a month of it! I called Dr. Cartledge's office to see if I could speak to him & find out since this medication is unaffordable to me, could he recommend something else that was that I could take instead (isn't that a reasonable request a patient can make?).

His office explained that I have a high deductible with my insurance & that is the price the insurance company sets (I get this). But I am trying to see what else he can tell me to take in it's place (he would never call). I made at least 7 phone calls to his office over the course of almost 2 weeks, speaking to a very nice Stephanie that just started working there, Claudia who is also a MA and another Stephanie. I finally was told that he requires that I make another appointment to discuss with him. I never heard of such a thing. He can't call me? Really?

Claudia did tell me that I should get a formulary from my insurance company to find out what other similar drugs they would cover at a more affordable price and she would ask the doctor. I found another medication called gabapentin that after going online & conducting my own research showed that Lyrica turns into gabapentin. The 1st Stephanie told me that gabapentin is another more affordable medication that is used for pain (she takes it herself). She was really trying to help me and was EXTREMELY compassionate & was trying to help me (they should all be like her).

I asked Claudia if I have to pay for another office visit still to do this & she said that the doctor requires that I do. I thought this was ludicrous (money gouging at it's best), and to top that off I still have gone almost 2 weeks (2/7/19 to 2/19/19) with nothing to take for my pain. What kind of doctor does this, not taking care of a patient's needs?

On my last phone call with Claudia on 2/19/19 I finally had to tell her that any other doctor out there would be communicative with their patient and just order a different medication that I could afford. She reiterated that Dr. Cartledge won't speak to me unless I come in for another PAID visit. I told her to tell him that if I don't hear from him by the end of the day that I wouldn't use him as a doctor anymore. I also told her that when the bill comes to pay him, I will not pay it as he has done me a disservice to me & doesn't deserve to be paid. He will just have to write it off.

Now of course he did not call me, but the real kicker is that I received a certified letter from him 2 days later (2/21/19), that he will no longer be my physician & is stopping to provide medical care to me (what care did he give me?). What kind of doctor does this?

If you are on Medicare & don't have to worry about paying the bill, I guess this kind of treatment will be ok with you. But to those of use who have to pay ridciously high insurance rates & have high deductibles, this is one doctor that DOES NOT really care about his patients, he is only interested in what he can bill, how many visits he can get out of you or what he can get Medicare to pay him.

I thought he was a great doctor. I hope this warns any potential patients how he runs his practice. PATIENT'S BEWARE!!
