I had a terrible experience with this doctor. I had gall stones and went to her for six months and complained about pain in my right side that traveled to my back at night. Classic symptoms that lasted for six months+.I really suffered. Doctor Chow Kwan told me I was menopausal and had gastric reflux. I finally ended up in the ER one night with pain so severe that I could hardly breathe. I went straight to the OR. She misdiagnosed one of the most common ailments around.

I've just started seeing Dr. Chow-Kwan after trying several primary care physicians in the Bay Area. Although they are not easy to find, my experience with the doctor and staff have been very positive. They make good use of technology (you can schedule appointments, email, input your medical data, etc. via their webiste and the doctor uses a computer to take and review notes during the appointment (accurate records). During the 2 visits I've had thus far, I didn't wait long at all, either in the waiting room or the exam room. The doctor was very friendly, seemed very knowledgeable, and was sesitive to my preferences. I did not feel rushed, or that that she did any unnecessary tests. What was most impressive is that I received a follow up letter with the results of my tests (blood), briefly descibing the test, indicating my levels, and what the normal ranges were. I do get the impression that she actually does do a thorough job of reviewing my medical history.

Dr.Mei Chow-Kwan is an extremely good physician. In fact, all the women physicians in this group are very good. I was looking for a Berkeley Doc and my Berkeley GYN referred me to Dr. Mei Chow-Kwan. She has always fit us in and she was very concerned about our healthcare. On top of that, the Group is a couple of blocks from the Walnut Creek Bart. They have a thriving practice from the looks of the waiting room. The patients all looked satisfied with their service.

I highly recommend Dr. Chow-Kwan as a family doctor. She is our Doctor for both my wife and I. She always takes time review our concerns, explore options and most importantly asks what we think. My last visit was this Monday and we spent 30 minutes talking about a course of action for my concerns. I have been referred to a specialist, but not before Dr. Chow-Kwan and I talked about the options and possible course of action with my specialist. I know that when I go see my specialist, I will have my ducks in a row from my primary care physician. Dr. Chow-Kwan is interested in the whole picture when you are with her. I have been to Doctors in the past that all they wanted to do was hear your complaint, fix you and send you on your way. Dr. Chow-Kwan still asks me about my diet, my stress level, how my job is going (and remembers what I do!) and I feel comfortable telling her anything. And to top it off, her British Hong Kong accent rocks!
