Dr. Martin seemed like a comforting "grandpa" type of doctor with tons of experience. However, he told me that there was, no reason for him NOT to be circumcised! That should have been my first warning! When my son was 6 months old or so, this "doctor" forced my baby's foreskin back, wiped him clean, and told me I should be cleaning the white stuff. That area was red and raw for almost a week afterwards. After doing some research online, I found from multiple medical sites that the smegma is a natural buildup that is supposed to be there. It prevents what has now happened to my son: the foreskin becomes attached to the head. This is, at certain times, very painful for my son, enough to wake him up in the middle of the night, wailing with pain. Now he has to have a procedure that would have been unnecessary, had it not been for Dr. Martin's intervention. This man should not be practicing medicine anymore, if he is not willing to leave his outdated and harmful methods behind.

My daughter went to Dr. Martin for 2 yrs before switching over to JCC (Dr. Mittal). I was torn between the 2 drs (and even had each of my two younger children each seeing one of the 2). I loved Dr. Martin's approach w/the children, as he always had a joking spirit that would put my daughter a little more @ ease. A couple things through me off however, first, he repeatedly remarked on how great little girls were but how he didn't like little boys (though I don't think anything inappropriate was intended by such remarks). That led me to elect a different pediatrician for son (born later). Though not always, most times I felt Dr. Martin was a bit condescending in my concerns, possibly assuming me to be younger than I was and not realizing I was not a first time mom, as I had a teen and preteen as well making me a mother of 4 in my 30s. Old NP (Suzanna) was great (and preferred by me), however, new NP (Gail) did not impress me a bit and was perhaps by far least favorite (condescending, etc

Both Dr. Martin and the nurse practitioner are absolutely amazing. They actually spend time with you addressing every single concern. Not once have I felt rushed. They will always try their best to work you in if you feel your child needs to be seen...none of that "If you feel they need to be seen, take them to the ER" line that most doctors give. A small office, but you feel much more like a person that matters then just Patient #xxx. I've been to 3 different pediatric offices in Jacksonville, and this is the only one I would recommend to a friend!

This man is amazing. At 63years of age, he still has patience with these children. He believes in treating the whole child. Mind, body and spirit. My children love him. We will truly miss this man whenever he decides to retire.
