Biography

Dr. Seagren is a 2017 Seattle Met Top Doctor Award winner. Dr. Seagren is a board certified, fellowship trained breast surgeon. As a breast surgeon, Dr. Seagren has a special interest in the management of breast cancer. She is particularly dedicated to risk based breast cancer screening, hereditary breast cancer, genetic screening and testing for deleterious genetic mutations (such as BRCA1 and BRCA2) which can dramatically increase a woman's risk of breast cancer. As a breast surgeon, Dr. Seagren has a special interest in the management of breast cancer. She specializes in the surgical treatment of breast cancer: mastectomy, lumpectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, axillary lymph node dissection, oncoplastic breast conservation, total nipple-skin sparing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. Dr. Seagren utilizes a hidden-scar technique with all of her surgeries. She believes in the importance of honoring a woman's body and is steadfastly dedicated to performing breast surgery that not only addresses the cancer but also obtains an optimum cosmetic result. For women who are carriers of a gene mutation that dramatically increases their risk of developing breast cancer, (ex. BRCA1, BRCA2, PALB2, CHEK2) Dr. Seagren is passionate about their risk reducing options, including the surgical prevention of breast cancer. Philosophy of Care: "The patient experience can be daunting at times, especially when a diagnosis leads to the recommendation for surgery. Patients are often faced with numerous choices and volumes of information. As a surgeon, I believe the doctor-patient relationship is the key to helping my patients navigate through this sometimes overwhelming experience. I approach every patient with compassion and strive to always provide clear information. I believe this encourages open communication and creates an environment that allows the patient to be an active participant in shared decision making. Simply stated, I imagine how I would hope a physician would care for my family and friends, and then I emulate this. It is the benchmark for my decisions as a surgeon." Born and raised in Washington State, Dr. Seagren had always hoped to return home, to care for her community.
