I was being treated for depression and anxiety by Dr. Canowitz and at first I really liked him. At one point during treatment I was feeling particularly bad and he told me to go to the "psych ward". No med adjustment, no referral, no compassion. He is awful.

This is the worst doctor and staff I have ever encountered. Dr Canowitz was my physicsian since 2009 and then he was compassionate but since has become very uncaring and actually made my condition worse by adding more anxiety and stress. After unsuccessfully trying to schedule an appointment for 5 straight days, talking to several rude staff, I received the below email from his staff: "I wanted to touch base with you in regards to the request you had made about making an appointment with Dr. Canowitz. Since there has been such a gap, in the time frame you were last seen, Dr. Canowitz isn’t able to re-establish with you as a patient. Sorry for any inconvenience, I wish you the best on your search for a Doctor." The gap of time they are referring to is 3 years...you would think that they would want perfectly healthy people as patients that are not calling them for every ache and pain. I will GLADLY look for a doctor that does not think I am part of his staff. DISGUSTING!~

Are you kidding. The first three evaluations must be fraternity brothers pimping him! Dr. Canowitz has been our PC and pediatrician since 2001. This guy is one of THE most caring, patient and knowledgable doc I've ever met. He is infinately available, even on short notice and he takes the necessary time to understand the whole picture.

I have been a long time patient, but am changing docs because he has become rude and makes you feel as though you are bothering him. He does not take time to listen, so I feel that he is attempting to treat a symptom and not the problem. And, if you are sick and need to see him...forget it! You will be scheduled with a Nurse Practitioner.

I have to agree with the other rating - this man is very rude. And, he made me wait several days after my appt to get my prescriptions and then he asked me to e-mail him what they were and the dosage!

This man was very rude.He made us feel like he was being bothered, I will not go back, nor would I recommend him to anyone I know.
