I must admit that I am rather startled of some of the negative reviews here. Not so much the complaints, but the mean spirited tones in which they were written. One writer even goes so far as to accuse Dr. Akers of writing her own "positive" revired. As a critical care patient of many years my experiences with Dr. Akers

I’m appalled at the comments from patients who didn’t love Dr Akers! She’s been treating me for years and years and she’s always listened to me and took extra care that I received the best care!!! The only disagreement we’ve ever had was my use of Premarin—estrogen supplement I’ve taken since 1997 after a hysterectomy. She told me at 70 I shouldn’t take it and u can’t take it to the grave. My OBGYN prescribes it and says I can. So I continue to take it as when I don’t I’m a blubbering mess. But other than that, I LOVE HER and am trying to locate her since leaving Carmel Family Physicians in early August 2021 (but no luck thus far).

I have been a patient of Dr. Akers since 2012. I always had my doubts that her enthusiasm when seeing me was an act. I have realized recently she doesn't really remember me and for that matter, truly aware of my health needs and requirements. I believe she doesn't take into account her "patients" needs, but tends to be very egotistical with her diagnosis (which on several occasions have NOT been in my best interest. Dr. Akers is a decent doctor if your only needs are general...she doesn't seem to perform well for patients needing individual care and analysis.

please don't believe all the 5 star comments, it is probably Dr. Akers her self...this is the worst doctor I have ever met...she became a a doctor to satisfy her own ego , not really to help people, and this is very clearly observed...plus she went to ROSS ...lol.... Dr. Akers if you are reading this please take to time to listen to your patient...and not be in love with your own voice

Dr Akers is not only a super knowledgeable physician, I feel like she's a friend, as well. She takes way more time with me than any other physician I've ever had. There is no question in my mind that she genuinely cares about me as a person; in fact, she has called me at home on a couple of occasions just to check on me,. I think she's an outstanding doctor and an even better person.

Dr. Akers has been my primary care physician since 2010. She does more than just diagnosis your illness or prescribe medicine... She takes an interest in her patients and shows compassion and respect every time I visit her. I would recommend her without hesitation.

I love Dr. Akers! She is so personable and very knowledgable! She treats you like a person rather than just one more patient. She really listens to her patients and their concerns/comments. She will talk out loud about what she is doing and why she is doing it which makes the patient feel comfortable and at ease. I would recommend her to anyone! Her personality is awesome!

Biography

I am a passionate physician who wants to transform the way doctors deliver care. Superior Health Medical was birthed with that desire in mind. Originally from Florida, I did my undergraduate and graduate school in Miami. I received my Bachelors in Science in Microbiology & Immunology and then pursued an Executive MBA before starting Medical School. I moved to Charlotte, NC with my family to attend Carolinas Medical Center (Atrium Health), where I completed my Residency Training in Family Medicine and worked at Carmel Family Physicians for 11 years. I then decided it was time to focus my energy on improving patient care and outreach therefore started Superior Health Medical and I'm now able to reach more patients than ever before. Within the first year, we were able to make HealthCare Business Reviews Top 10 Virtual Care practices for 2023.
