Biography

Julie A. Cupp, MD, graduated from LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport School of Medicine. She completed a general surgery residency at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. At the same location, Dr. Cupp completed a research fellowship studying breast disease and parathyroid disease. Dr. Cupp’s advanced training was a breast surgical oncology fellowship at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She is board certified by American Board of General Surgery in general surgery. Today Dr. Cupp is a breast surgical oncologist at Willis-Knighton Breast Health and Surgical Specialists in Shreveport, Louisiana. She works with patients who have benign and malignant breast conditions. Dr. Cupp provides services ranging from genetic testing and counseling, to diagnostics, to surgery. She performs needle core biopsies and breast ultrasounds. Breast surgeries include lumpectomy and skin- and nipple-sparing mastectomy. She collaborates with radiation oncologists to provide accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI). She prides herself on patient-centered care to help patients navigate the complexities of breast cancer, including the physical and psychosocial factors. Dr. Cupp is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgery and the Louisiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband and children, cooking, running and biking.
