I chose Dr. Moro to remove my colon and construct a J-pouch since 95% of my colon was ulcerated and I didn't respond to any of the many medications I had tried. I found Dr. Moro to be an excellent surgeon but I did "suffer" an unexpected complication of the surgery....urinary retention. After the shock subsided I learned how to self-catheterize and, fortunately, my urinary function gradually returned to normal. I just wish I had known this might happen. Dr. Moro created a beautiful stoma....much better than most people have had. This was important to prevent receding and leakage. My J-pouch is also perfect. The only problem I had with Dr. Moro was dealing with his office manager. It was because of her, mainly, that I chose to go to another colorectal surgeon to have the second part of the surgery completed. Dr. Moro conducts a support group for those of us who have had this surgery. He's a wonderful teacher. He is also one heck of a nice guy! Oh, I swear by Hoag Hospital!
