I was a patient of Dr. Mcanus for a while. I found Dr. McManus to be sensitive, thorough, flexible, and helpful. Dr. McManus diagnosed my ADHD through testing. Although, he could not prescribe medication, his thorough diagnostic analysis enabled my primary physician to precribe medication. I am grateful to him for all his help. I would recommend Dr. McManus in a heartbeat.

Dr. McManus came highly recommended from an expert in the field of child behavior therapy. My son improved immensely from his neuro biofeedback. It was gradual but persistence paid off. I would and have recommended Dr. McManus to friends and co-wokers. He is professional and kind. Thank you Dr. McManus!

Dr. McManus is flexible with scheduling early evening appointments and changing appointments when the client's schedule changes. He keeps up to date with new information in the field of neurofeedback and upgrades to new technology as it is available. He is also available to provide psychological support for the patient and family as needed. In addition, his waiting room has interesting magazines related to psychology and ADD which have helpful tips for patients and their families.

My experience with Dr. McManus was the opposite. He was very helpful, analytical and supportive for me during a difficult time. I saw him over a period of years for therapy. The author of the negative review I saw seemed disgruntled without anything actually negative. Of course Ph.D. psychologists can't prescribe -- but they can recommend, and send you to someone who can write. Otherwise, it required a medical degree, ordinarily. Sounds like the reviewer was there for the neurofeedback, but evidently didn't give it much of a chance. I didn't have the neurofeedback, but was in a more typical therapist relationship. He's a good guy and helps!

My experience has been more than frustrating... Before the two appointments I had to set up, and the testing I had to do prior John L. McManus's diagnosis.... I was very clear about the symptoms I had and that I was seeking help. He said he could help, but I would need to meet with him first, which I did. He then said I would need to make another apointment for further testing. Note, the testing was a joke. It was a simple video game, which I find hard for anyone to make anything out of the results. The thing that really got me is... after my diagnosis, he said he couldn't prescribe medication to help because he wasn't authorized? I told him from the beginning that I was looking for medication to help. NOT a second opinion. I left thinking... WHAT A WAIST OF TIME AND MONEY!
