For those of you reading this review, please note that I saw Dr Goldberg for my medication prescriptions. I saw him once a month to check in and see if there was any adverse reactions to the medications that were being prescribed.

I was a patient of Dr Goldberg’s for 6 years. I only left his practice because I moved to another state. Prior to becoming one of his patients, I had seen two other doctors. Those other doctors barely listened to what I had to tell them and quickly prescribed me medication. That medication caused weird side effects and even though I told those doctors about it, they both gave me the same response, “give it time.” I couldn’t parents my children with the side effects that I was having so I stopped taking the medication and left those doctors.

In 2012, I was fortunate enough to hear about Dr Goldberg and lucky for me he was still taking patients. At our first meeting, I told Dr Goldberg about my previous experiences with medication and doctors. He truly listened to what I had to say and together we worked on a game plan for how best to start medication for my depression and anxiety issues. It took eight years before I found Dr Goldberg. It took only six months of trial and dosage adjustment before we found the right combination of medication and dosage that helped me get back to a normal life.

When I became pregnant with my third child in 2017, I told him my concerns about continuing the medication that I was on during my pregnancy. Since Dr Goldberg listened to me, he knew that I was always reading research study results for my depression, anxiety, and medication. He showed me a website that had all the information that I was looking for pertaining to the research that had been done on the medications that I was on and pregnancy. Together we came up with a game plan that both he and I were comfortable with to get me through my pregnancy. After my delivery he checked in with me to see how I was feeling since we believe my current depression issues stems from postpartum depression being undiagnosed with my first two children.

For me, Dr Goldberg has been a caring doctor and I’ve benefited greatly from his practice.

I've been a patient of Dr. Goldberg for the past two years. He has helped me understand and overcome my depression. He is well versed in all the latest pharmaceutical treatments . In addition, I have found Dr. Goldberg to be empathetic and helpful in resolving my problems. I referred a good friend who lost her husband to Dr. Goldberg and she was equally pleased with his treatment

Dr. Goldberg was easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable about the latest treatment options. He was flexible and open to exploring treatment options and helped you understand the pros and cons of these options. I would recommend Dr. Goldberg to anyone who is seeking an expert to help them monitor and maintain a safe and effective medication plan.

I was a patient of Dr. Goldberg's for five years, from August 2012 to this past May. Starting with the positives: He only made me see him about 3-4 times a year, always prescribed generous refills, and took me back on as a patient when my plans to switch to a more local psychiatrist fell through. However, he is one of the most arrogant and condescending individuals I have ever worked with. I always dreaded my appointments with him, because they always came with some kind of chastisement for not meeting his exacting standards of what it means to be a "functioning" adult. Furthermore, he has no on-call service, and was always difficult to schedule appointments with. There was one occasion when I ran out of medication and could not get in contact with him for several days. Ultimately, I finally left his practice after he responded to my request to reschedule our last appointment because of a work conflict. I have reproduced his email below:

"I got your email from 5/5/17 regarding today's session, and I cancelled it according to your request.

In looking at your records, since February 2014, we have made a total of 14 appointments, and you have made it in to my office for 8 of these, or 57%. By way of comparison, the average patient in my practice makes it in for 90-95% of our sessions and a patient is an outlier in my practice if he or she makes it in for less than 80% of scheduled appointments.

So, before booking out more of my time, I will need to hear back that you will be considerably more likely to make it in than you have been, or that you would be willing to pay for my time, even if you cancel more than 24h in advance.

I'll wait to hear back from you before we proceed.

Best wishes,
Ilan Goldberg"

Aside from one appointment I missed because of a family emergency, I always gave him more than 24 hours advanced notice if I had to reschedule. This attitude of his is completely flippant and unprofessional. It is obvious he cares more about his paycheck than he does his patients. Stay away.

By the time I arrived in Dr. Goldberg’s office I had been treated for anxiety/depression for over 10 years and therefore had met my fair share of mental health professionals. I was postpartum, had been off medication for a period of time and was feeling very troubled - and I honestly just wanted a handshake and a prescription for something I had taken before. However, I quickly found him to be so insightful, compassionate, and easy to talk to that almost 5 years later he continues to manage my care. He has been infinitely patient with all my reservations regarding medication and helped me find a dose that actually works. He creates an atmosphere of respect and collaboration, and is always sensitive to my specific needs. It’s rare to find a combination of clinical savvy and real life wisdom, but I’m grateful that I have. This is safe space – even for the trust-challenged. I truly believe he cares and always has my best interest at heart.

I've just started my treatment with Dr. Goldberg. Being new to the Boston area, Dr. Goldberg has been one of the best things about the city. I have had many psychiatrists and none compare on the care, thoughtfulness, knowledge that I benefit from here. Dr. Goldberg is great.

I've been seeing Dr. G for more than a year and have never felt patronized or scrutinized. He listens attentively and takes a real interest in his patients; he responds to messages faster than half of my friends. I'll put it this way: "My psychiatrist is so intelligent and empathetic." "How empathetic is he?" "He's so empathetic that I stayed with him even after losing my cushy health insurance. Worth every penny."
